  1. What is your second passion?

I mentioned it was one of my hobbies in an earlier post but didn't share any pics or anything like that. I'm into water gardening. This is our backyard. I also like video games & RC. What can I say. I'm a kid at heart I guess.
  2. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

Yeah I have to admit I have a little egg on my face on this one. I use to be so annoyed by this kid with his cho-ing. Never questioned his talent. But then some time back I for some reason started incorporating it (all be it in a minor way) a little in my game. It just came out. It's hard to...
  3. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Long over due but here's how twiddling with penhold works for me. Hope you guys enjoy. Thanks.
  4. Is XX working on his backhand?

I don't know if Xu Xin's problem is so much that his backhand is bad (and I've been one who has said that several time admittedly) or more so that he puts himself out of position by running around it too much for today's game. Look at the tactics he selected for this match. He served from the...
  5. Dhs ABS balls

Well when Dima was talking about how much he liked this ball in his facebook post, I remember him indicating that Donic, who sponsors him i believe, will be coming out with an ABS plastic ball as well. So I think it's a yes.... Possibly. ;)
  6. Dhs ABS balls

Had a good hit with these DHS 40+ balls last night. Our club has tested them out a few weeks now. Honestly the biggest complaint or note is that some members say they sound different on the bounce than what they are use to which is the Gambler 40+ seamless ball. It's so faint to me, I think...
  7. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Happy to hear this progress OSP. I suppose it's about finding the right combination. I've played 2 sided cpen for years (granted most with some pips combination which are typically very light) but I once held a buddy's cpen with two DHS rubbers on there. Talk about a lead weight. There are some...
  8. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Jun Mizutani is another great one to reference. Here is a loop from a video where he was demonstrating serving. He's a good example of him doing that same ma lin like serve. Check out the his angle the way it's facing up. Helps hit the front of the ball. His service game is about as good as it...
  9. Videos of Lower Rank Choppers?

Well for not an elite pro, I like Jian Li. He's probably out of the range you're looking for being I think USATT 2600 something. So he's really, really good but fun to watch. Big FH, good chopper. Nice bump attack with the LPs vs backspin. This is also a good youtube channel to sub to. and
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

+1 thanks for sharing OSP I like the drill of 42andbackpains feeding you a mixture of backspin & no spin or slight topspin balls for you to adjust. I think learning to transition from that loop motion to back to more normal is challenging but important to learn. So easy to send that 2nd ball...

I get it. That's one that's tricky for me as well. Sure I could flatten out my paddle (basically parallel to the ground) and contact the bottom of the ball going forward to get a good amount of backspin but i don't like that version of the serve because I think it's a dead give away what it...
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Well the last couple of weeks have been a complete no show for me as this cold kicked my butt. Have missed the last two weeks of club. Thankfully, I'm back to full health now. Have taken some of this time to practice my serve. There's a good video from ping skills where they talk about serving...
  13. Which Clipper?

Well i don't have anything to compare to as I haven't tried those other clippers. But I have the clipper classic in penhold and it has been, and always will be my finest blade. I particularly like it for short pips or any pips play more accurately. I know tons of people have played it with...
  14. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

No i didn't link it. I should have but the pic is huge. Just check out post #321
  15. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Yes for sure sand those wings. That just looks like blisters waiting to happen. On my clipper if you saw the wings, they're completely rounded on each side and given the years of play, have been worn in to be very smooth and it's really comfortable. On the topic of comfort, everybody take at...
  16. Everything you need to know: ITTF Presidency 2017!

Oh for Fs sake why don't they just make it this already. That's what they want right? SMH
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Just as an interesting note on footwork I've noticed that He Zhi Wen when before & most likely during the point does this foot left & right alternate shuffle thing. I wouldn't describe it as being on the balls of his toes but he's definitely keeping his feet active & moving vs standing...

maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me but are they playing with that two-toned DHS ball? I swear I see orange.
  19. what would smart table tennis racket be like?

there needs to be like a paper thin, like edge tape sensor. Or something at least light. I play with foam edge tape and that's certainly not paper thin. This way you can measure blade head speed etc.

You know there are so many good resources out there online, you just can't remember all of them so a refresher course is nice. I have seen that PingSkills video before but honestly had forgotten about it. The video for me is timely as I'm looking to beat my training partner who does not...
