Honestly I don't think I could have done anything differently growing up in the states. I learned TT at an early age and only played friends and family. There were no other avenues at least very few. As I got older I played lots of other sports, baseball, football, basketball, hockey, tennis...

So I'm guessing that H9 was basically a cheap throw together rubber to please the crowd that wants different colors.

Is H9 really that bad?

I can't say that I agree. I've tried H3 adapted to it and ran away from it. The spin is great but it's just a very demanding rubber. I don't have lightening footwork and a 20 yo's stamina. For me a hybrid is the best compromise. Some stickiness with a tensor rubber for speed.

If you like H3 you probably won't like K3. You will think it's too fast and not enough grip. Plus it doesn't last as long. Being a hybrid user there's no way I can use H3. I would throw out my shoulder and end up out of action for months. I even tried Tau II and thought that was way too...

Coming from H3 the K3 would be faster and less sticky. I don't think you can really compare the two since the K3 is a tradeoff of tack versus speed.

Well according to Xiom it's supposed to be tacky. But I agree it didn't feel tacky to me either.

Guang is a little harder but it's also slightly tacky and about the same speed as 09C. What did you find different?

Varnish is designed not to absorb into the wood so it's got a coating on it. If you use sealer it penetrates the wood and doesn't leave a coating.

Nope, there is no difference in playing characteristics, weight or feel. The only small change I've noticed is the Revolution glue doesn't stick to a sealed blade. But I just use other glues and they work fine.

Yup, I seal my blades when new and my handles always look exactly the same as new.
