  1. Practice with old celluloid balls?

You mean its easier to brush and grip the ball? But the opposite would be true as well. If the old ball spins and grips the rubber more, then the underspin would cause the ball to go down into the net more easily upon contact.
  2. Practice with old celluloid balls?

Why is it easier to lift the old ball?
  3. Practice with old celluloid balls?

Spin is heavier with old ball. So when somebody slices to you or loops to you, there is more spin on it. It takes cleaner technique to loop a underspin shot. And it takes better technique to block a heavy loop. So wouldn't that prepare you better once you want to play with the plastic ball?
  4. Who has tried Loki N80?

To give you a sense of the speed of BD, I once was hitting topspin loops against a guy with a borrowed HL5 with almost new D09c. Then I switched over to a MLEO blade with Big Dipper on it. Immediately my opponent commentated how much faster this racket was. Nobody would ever say this about...
  5. Practice with old celluloid balls?

Does anybody think its better to practice with the old celluloid balls? The old balls have more spin, so it takes better technique to loop and block against the old celluloid balls. So if you can loop the celluloid ball, then you assume that you can loop the plastic ball even more easily...
  6. People who switched from carbon back to wood, how’s it going?

I find blades like MLEO very suitable for attacking offensive game with the modern ball. I used to have a Stiga Offensive CR, which maybe was a little too soft for today's game. Of course its still playable though, but felt sub-optimal.
  7. The Ultimate Table Tennis Beginners Guide

There is drive, short push, long push, opener loop, topspin loop, counter loop, flick, chop, sidespin loop, block, counter block, chop block and i'm probably missing a few more shots.
  8. Just tried ZJK ZLC, why don't people like ZLC?

Well Tenergy itself is already really speedy and bouncy. Maybe ALC pairs better because it tames the bounciness a little. D09c is not too fast, so maybe it goes well with ZLC. And I have a lot of Chinese rubbers that are slower, so maybe they pair well with ZLC.
  9. Who has tried Loki N80?

Well here we go again. I had a GTX that i thought would be bouncy because some people said so, but it was very dead out of package. Booster transforms it though. Mocker are you testing the rubbers out of package? Or after boosting?
  10. Who has tried Loki N80?

Yes, BD is a hybrid. In my experience, it never reverts back to unboosted state. It keeps its speed permanently. I have BD sheets over 5 years old that is still fast. H3N is also factory tuned. So it IS fair to compare. In any case, I'm just asking for the rubber straight out of the package...
  11. Who has tried Loki N80?

Yes, this certainly sounds reasonable. Maybe if you have a chance, try bd again. I think you will find the speed is night and day from h3. Its certainly reasonable that n80 is faster than h3 but slower than bd.
  12. Who has tried Loki N80?

Well, I don't consider Big Dipper to be similar to H3 in any way. So, we're just not even on the same page. Tenergy and G1 are closer to each other than BD and H3 are to each other. BD is probably closer to Tenergy than it is to H3.
  13. The Ultimate Table Tennis Beginners Guide

I would like to see a list of all the different strokes (i think you only show drive and push). Also maybe rank the shots in order of importance in a game.
  14. Will there be a Butterfly Fan Zhendong soon?

What is different in construction about the blade that produces more power and more gears?
  15. Will there be a Butterfly Fan Zhendong soon?

What is the difference between Viscaria and Golden?
  16. Who has tried Loki N80?

That's why for me, when somebody tells me that H3 is faster than BD, I feel like I'm in the land of loopy loop. H3 is not faster than BD, and BD is not faster than Tenergy. So the original question is actually about Loki N80, but I'm completely thrown off by some of the ratings in this thread.
  17. Who has tried Loki N80?

yes. However, I have noticed that sometimes a unboosted H3 can be very hard and fast if the tackiness has worn off and its on a hard blade. Sometimes those don't feel so slow. But I tried another guy's racket last week with boosted H3N on Viscaria, and it felt really slow. I think he said he...
  18. Who has tried Loki N80?

I don't know, there's a reason CNT players use 3 or 4 layers of booster on H3N. I have used several sheets of H3N before, and they are always dead slow out of the package.
  19. Who has tried Loki N80?

See, you're going back against what you just said earlier. Now you are introducing extra variables, such as confidence. Yes, if you are very confident in your rubber, you can swing harder, and it will be faster for you. But that's not what I'm talking about. All else equal, using the same...
  20. What is the best alternative for Tenergy 05?

Aliexpress has ESN rubber GoldArc 8 for $32. I think this would be quite close to Tenergy.
