I think it's easy to use because you've been playing for 3+ years and have a good combination of rubbers. A fresh beginner would struggle quite a bit and would benefit far more from the stability of a 5-ply all-wood.

One thin layer on the blade and 2 thin layers on the rubber is a good way to go.

Yea the head of the Korbel is a bit larger which means a larger sweet spot, more flex and better touch. It's best to balance it with rubbers that are not too heavy, one of the reasons I used lower weight rubbers and not max thickness.

Loose grip is the way to go, you only need to tighten a bit at ball contact then loose again. Joola Emotion is good too but the feeling of the Acoustic is unreal indeed. I'll check how much shipping is to Australia tomorrow and get back to you via PM.
