Today I glued a slab of black R53 max on a blade that already had a red sheet of same. Hit a few balls with it, twiddled, and doubt very much if I could tell them apart in a blind test.

To me, no. R53 feels deceptively soft.

To me, quite similar in blocking. R53 is a bit faster and maybe a bit more forgiving in active blocks against very heavy incoming, whereas MX-S does a bit better in passive blocks.
