  1. Yasaka Mark V - what thickness for beginner?

And here’s me reminiscing about my first serious setup, a handed-down Stiga Kjell Johansson Offensive Wood with Mark V 2.0 on both sides (both red, of course). My coach severely frowned upon me for taking that crazy fast setup to the training. Not that I could afford anything else… so I stuck...
  2. feedback for the rubber required from all respected members.

Not at all, not at all. That's just me being unassuming. Apologies for the ruffled feathers.
  3. 729 Battle II Rubber Review

On my teensy phone screen I read that as "out of all 82 versions" and had a little chuckle. Untrue, but typical stil.
  4. feedback for the rubber required from all respected members.

By no means a respected member, I still might have €.02 of ideas to share. Composite mass-produced: DHS N301. Butterfly Harimoto or Innerforce ALC. Nittaku Tornado King Power. Andro Treiber CI. Joola Rosskopf Emotion (the only "outer" composite in this shortlist, mitigated by its soft Hinoki...
  5. Yasaka Zebarate

To me the Zebarate looks like a close kin to the Innerforce/Apolonia ZLC. I'm guessing it's limba/limba/ZLC/ayous/zlc/limba/limba, like these two, and reportedly rather thin. I'm unsure about the core, though. So that's where I'd look to get a general sense of its playing properties. (The...
  6. German Open 2019

Important message to EJs: equipment is soooo important that some pros don’t even know and don’t care what they’re playing with. [emoji3166]
  7. German Open 2019

    Duplicate removed
  8. German Open 2019

    The usual.
  9. German Open 2019

The rivers still have to move many mountains to the sea for that to happen.
  10. The motor mower serve

I'm just the opposite. I see a meaningless pic, with no sensible text, and ignore. :-)
  11. German Open 2019

"Uwaaa". That reminds me of the first time I heard of so-called onomatopeia, with the latin "ululare" as an example.
  12. The motor mower serve

Not being a visual guy (and considering any picture obviously capable of obfuscating many clearly written words), I think I perfectly understand that serve. Early '80s, BH serves were the bread&butter of everyday TT where I played, both Bengtsson-style short as well as the long top-side OP...
  13. German Open 2019

Well, that may or may not be an exploitable vulnerability.
  14. German Open 2019

    Alas, overeagerness undid it.
  15. German Open 2019

Hayata is fast, furious and fluid against CXT. (Or am I jinxing it now?)
  16. Best feeling allround plus blade

If you really love your sweety, then don't abandon her. Or regret it later.
  17. Best feeling allround plus blade

No, that’s just different. The Korbel and Primorac have limba outers. Softish and pretty much geared towards a spin oriented game. The Sweden Extra has an outer of anegre, “the ultimate control wood”, which is slightly harder and a bit more zesty (to my palate anyway) and lets you spin it, but...
  18. Music for Ishikawa to break CNT maid

Wanton cruelty. Come on people, we're better than this.
  19. Possible reason on FZD not performing

As to these technical changes, where do we see most of these? I think I see the BH getting used differently, and there's a bit less consistency there as well. But that might well be just a matter of different tactics rather than a technical change.
  20. Submit your best shot of 2019 to win The Golden Bat!

What use is a golden bat? I don't think it's a very suitable material at all. Too heavy, bad contact properties, and not even allowed per Laws of Table Tennis, which dictate wood makes up for at least 85% of the blade.
