  1. Slower tensor/tensor-like rubbers?

Yeah, try, try, try. Except that first impressions are deceptive. Too fast and too spinny usually feels awesome, at first. But it’s only over time that slow adaptation, sensory adjustment, engrained reactiveness to feedback happens. All I’m saying is: pick anything you trust to be good...
  2. TSP Swat: Unpopular Popularity

TSP is a pretty marginal brand over here. Not many stores carry it.
  3. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

    What injury?
  4. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

Dima seems to have an edge over sparring spartners. I had expected more parity. Then again, on the surface of things Timo should have the upper hand against Dima, but that’s also skewed.
  5. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

Kato Myu is slowly getting boxed in by Liu Weishan. A change in tactics might be required if she's going to turn it.
  6. older players and their equipments

There's no denying his touch and his ability to read the ball, I agree.
  7. older players and their equipments

I stopped more or less in '84, had a hard time quitting even though injured and in the end got disgusted. I tried to train seriously every now and then, but was hampered and restricted in movement right at the point that I felt I really needed to put in the hours to cope with growing stronger...
  8. older players and their equipments

I must admit I remember precious little of that time. It was a bad time for my TT - in fact so bad it stopped me playing for about 30 years. Here's what I recall. Players in the first team changed over the course of a few years. An ambitious chairman and sponsor first got Bob Potton from...
  9. older players and their equipments

I played at a club where Karakasevic came to play about the time I quit playing (adolescence and knee injury). He did train fiercely then, put in the hours, and many international players came over to spar with him.
  10. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

The umpire's eying the Mizutani serve very closely.
  11. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

Well, you certainly seem to know your shit, I shit you not. Distinctive cultures have different focal points for expletion. Often its genital, but anglisaxon tradition is somewhat anal in orientation. (Yes, my alias is partially rooted in this pars pro toto.)
  12. Slower tensor/tensor-like rubbers?

...and you'll always remain haunted, because there just might always be a better one right behind the next corner. :-) My humble advice is not to overthink and overexperiment, and lagom out at some point. Preferredly sooner than later.
  13. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

I haven't seen CXT pull dirty tricks to shamelessly steal matches. To me, that makes a difference, and it's the difference between the styles of sportsmanship and playing without any style. (I'll probably soften up about this in a decade or two, three, barring some earlier form of redemption...
  14. Playing Table Tennis With 100 Year Old Bats

10 out of 10 for me. I started out going all like, hey, what's with these gimmicky gimmicks and why bother and why the annoying BG music, and then upon the first hits my jaw dropped. I'd never have guessed play like that would get done with these whiff whaff Slazengers. I'm in awe and have...
  15. Artengo (Decathlon) brand table

Yes. No additional coating will help if the table surface is insufficiently massive for a good bounce. I may be picky, but I draw the line at 22mm. Everything's fine and you can play on anything, of course, in good fun. But for serious play, 22mm at least, and 25mm is better.
  16. Slower tensor/tensor-like rubbers?

That does sound like a compelling argument for toning down a bit.
  17. What's Wrong with Harimoto's FH?

Yes, your post crossed mine and I am in support of de-escalation. I'm sorry that happened and will hold my tongue. Fingers.
  18. What's Wrong with Harimoto's FH?

And to clarify my little contribution, here's what triggered me. There's this perception, repeated over and over, that TH's game has been read by now. His game is deeply flawed, his technique fatally flawed, the surprise factor is over, the CNT (as a whole, apparently) now easily manoeuvers...
  19. What's Wrong with Harimoto's FH?

A FH so flawed that his opponent preferred to engage his BH. Terminally flawed.
  20. Zhao Zihao Equipment

I interpreted as a hommage to early '80s kung fu movies. Of the low-budget kind. And because I'm like that, I found that quite a stylish tribute.
