  1. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Last night play/practiced 2 hrs straight. With first partner who always takes our matches seriously, I played semi-serious, almost using RPB exclusively as well as serve Wang Hao style almost the whole match. I lost 1st, won 2nd, then noticed he was super-serious, so I just played to return the...

Obrigado suds and shinshiro! Very interesting! I do the first one but not as pronounced motion as he does. Mine is lower/flatter. Although I'm not consistent with it and perhaps should rise up with blade like he does. That 2nd is wicked! Interesting on 3rd! Thank you both!
  4. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

What a cool report to read suds! Sounds like fun, but I am not satisfied at the lack of consistency on my strokes at my level. Will keep practicing for the time being with 2 inverted. I am loving RPB ATM At some point I will have to relearn/or learn properly the TPB and either pull a Ma Lin or...

Very cool Ranger-man!! I am into the martial arts too, some of the tips I posted was from the MA and some from other sources I've learnt from.
  7. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Some tips on learning a new technique Some general tips I give for anything and ideally they are done together in unison but if you must start off, do it separately with an eye towards doing them together, especially the first 2: 1. Visualization/Modeling Visualize yourself doing the action...
  8. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

When I used to play the TPB style, I hold in somewhat traditional curled fingers grip ... I have tried extended fingers grip but couldn't TPB punch/block that well. With curled fingers I'm able to close the racket with the thumb as your posted pic. I'm not sure though if i understand what you...
  9. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Last night, I felt I had a very good practice with 4 different partners. 1. Despite my FH loop totally disappearing from my toolbox, I was able to hit steadily enough FH to FH with a woman partner I've hit with before. Consciously trying to relax and not rush my stroke as well as trying to meet...
  10. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Great question mky! Wonder why more have not followed LGL's lead. In addition to yoass' great point, I believe with the right foot in front, it's easier/faster to get back into ready position than if the left foot was in front. With the left foot in front, the right foot needs to take a full...

  13. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Last Tuesday night, I played and lost 3 matches. But some progress made on RPB for my gameplay! I am starting to integrate RPB punch/block to my gameplay which made me happy, although not perfect form/technique/stroke. And I did, under pressure, hit some TPB, but hit the balls horribly. TPB...

Excellent shinshiro! JPen is a total mystery for me LOL. One day I may try a friend's JPen but for now, having fun learning RPB on a CPen.

Believe it or not, I've actually lost my TPB punch/block after i took up RPB!! Not sure why LOL For me it would be. As RPB is new for me and being used to one rubber only, i cannot begin to imagine RPB with SH racket LOL Just as long as you feel good with it and not causing pain. Looking...

My pre-serve relaxation/get-in-the-moment ritual is to bounce the ball on the table/floor a few times as well as consciously breath. I've noticed Ma Lin fans himself from time to time.
  17. TT Clubs in New York or someone to play with

pgpg, Thank you - i would have searched a few pages before finding that post LOL brodolio, Not sure how much of NYC you know about. Please forgive me if you know this already. NYC has 5 boroughs. The clubs pgpg listed are clubs in one borough called Queens where I live and play. Robert...

Not really, at least not yet ... we sometimes serve and 3rd ball attack ... so i or partner will say return the ball here and we practice our 3rd ball attack knowing where the ball will be returned ... and i still rush then - lol at me

I suspect many of us suffer from this ... easy to say, hard to do. After my long break from TT, I have been mainly practicing with little matchplay. Lately I have started up matchplay again and many at my club who see me practice think of me at one level and am surprised that during matchplay i...

Tuesday night Played 3 matches and despite the losses, learnt some things about myself, in which case, i didn't lose! 1. vs Y - It was the first match of the night for me on a table where generally the 1800-1900's play. I waited my turn and as there was a lot of people waiting, Y was next...
