  1. Whos your favourite player currently, and a why?

yeah that too, his serve pendulum gets more back spin than any other player I have seen.
  2. Upcoming stars

Alexander Shibaev, won the under 18 in Qatar, beating Niwa Koki, and in the UAE, he just lost 4-3 to Mizutani. I think that's pretty significant. He has already shown the ability, to bring Octarchov and Mizutani to 7 games, both of whom are really good, and Mizutani especially has a better...
  3. Support Ma Long

Yeah, it really is unfortunate that such a great player, who has already done so much, put so much effort and sweat to master a sport, is now faced with a situation where he potentially won't be able to reach his full potential because of a nagging injury. I mean just thinking about the number...
  4. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

By your own reasoning, that makes the question really ambiguous. The same serve done, would be legal in one situation and not in the other? just because your opponent chooses to stand at a different place? that seems illogical
  5. Whos your favourite player currently, and a why?

Nothing awesome??!?! haha His backhand flip is probably the best I have ever seen. It is so quick, so consistent, and has more spin of any flip of any player out there. He generates a lot of spin on his loops also. Both his backhand and forehand loops have the most perfect curving path.
  6. Newest Chinese- Penhold Blade Design

That is pretty cool, very innovative. Maybe its just me, but I actually like having my fingers sticking out in the back, gives me a better feel for the ball and more control I think, though I don't really play penhold, except for fun
  7. Wayne Rooney's goal 12/02/2011

Is Wayne Rooney the most popular player in England? I wish Ronaldinho was still as good as he was in his prime like he was at Barca.
  8. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

That sounds good and all, frankly if you pick the rule apart piece by piece, and forgive me, I am in law school so it has become a habit, but you can make Xu Xin's serve entirely legal just based off the wordings of the rule. If the ITTF really wanted umpires to be super anal about it, they...
  9. Send me clips of you playing please!:)

Man, I need to get a camera, I bet it can be really useful, and really help with improving your game if you watch yourself play from different angles. It will also be pretty cool just to see some of the other members on this site play. Just to know who you are actually talking to, and their...
  10. [Video] Service practice

Yeah, just like everyone has said thus far, really great serves, a lot of different variation and good spin. You probably do this more in a game, and have improved your serves, since this is an old video, but I would definitely say that you should try to put more emphasis on disguising your...
  11. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

haha wow.... I didn't realize my posts were looked in such positive light, well thank you. All I am saying is that its quite easy to pop the ball up from your palm and instill absolutely no spin to it even if you throw it back several feet. Especially when you consider the fact that professional...
  12. UAE Open 2011

I don't know, Jun Mizutani is so insanely good at blocking, and his reaction rate is so good for that, that I feel like he is often too eager to back off from the table for his own good. I think it would be better for him to just try to stay closer to the table, work on his offense, even if in...
  13. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I__jJDdECZs you should watch this video. It's a good camera angle. Wang Liqin's serve isn't even close to illegal in my opinion
  14. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

Yeah, but what is important is that almost everyone throws it back. Just about every one of Boll's serves, he throws it back a little. It just depends on how much. You saying those 50+ year olds are abusing the rule, is kind of circular logic.... They aren't abusing the rule, if its not abuse...
  15. UAE Open 2011

I am going against the norm, and voting for Wang Hao. Unfortunately, Ma Long just isn't in or close to his top form at the moment, he still is damn good, but against the top Chinese players right now, his form just doesn't cut it. In his game against Xu Xin, his movement speed was just so slow...
  16. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

Everyone throws it back a little. And as long as you throw it up from your palm, its really hard to get any spin.
  17. Xu Xin illegal Serve in Detail

Yeah seriously, this is kind of a meaningless debate. From the videos we get this distant, straight on view, that is nothing like what Xu Xin's opponents see. Look at the Boll match. They are standing diagonally to each other, that makes it so that you have a way better view. And in the clips...
  18. 2011 Japan Top 12

Jun Mizutani's defense is like uncannily good. His reaction rate for his blocks are out of this world. 2 years ago, his offense was awful, so he was still unable to reach the elite group of players, but he is slowly becoming able to start adding some offensive looping in between his blocks. If...
  19. Qatar Open 2011

I think Boll can hang with Ma Long and Zhang Jike, at least at the moment. Boll's offensive game is so good that when his opponent doesn't consistently control the short game, it just becomes random chance who wins the points, because both Boll and the Chinese players have such good offense that...
  20. Qatar Open 2011

Nah, I think thats really because of the fact that our viewpoint is straight on. We are looking at the table that is completely perpendicular to the table. But when you actually consider the fact that the two players are standing diagonally from each other, and therefore have a much wider view...
