Thanks for sharing the articles @Dr Evil I didnt see them before.
If im pragmatic, the metaphor definitely helps beginners and people re-learning the technique. This week for example, we were practising this at the club, and they first had to learn the feeling of hitting, just for the sake of...
Fully agree with this comment too @Takkyu_wa_inochi , it's either coaching and practice is intense, or just use slow gear to learn and enjoy the game, it's going to take years, maybe a lifetime, so you might as well (just like me, I'm still learning daily) have fun :D
Well as we discussed before, I have a lot of evidence from players at my club and regular competitions/tournaments (in the netherlands) that they have either stopped with the sport or that they are lost and confused, party due to equipment. Of course equipment is like 20% and technique 80%, but...
Very much agree to all of the above, specially the part of as a beginner you can only think of one, max 2 things, I can totally relate to that.
Also, yes, feet, the most important, the best technique, but wrong place, and it all breaks :)
100% agree with you on this. ALWAYS technique and tactics first unless equipment is sitting in the way of that. Equipment changes, specially if too fast when you are not ready can have very bad consequences :)
Congrats on fast progress and keep it up!
I have added the prime to the list, as I said before I did not use it but looking at it in depth I feel like it would be right, thanks! It's now on the page live :)
Yes I tried it once you are right it felt like a nice rubber (on a 5 ply wood, think it was acoustic)! Since my experience with it...
Very much agree on the chinese backhand, it's much harder to learn that way, it's rewarding sometimes but very physical and very punishing often. I did it for about 2 years so I know ;)
Only benefit is that due to tack and hard sponge there is a lot of control, and they are very strict but...
Do take into account that G-1 and C1are much bouncier than R7 specially due to sponge/pips structure (explained this in the blogpost) and vega europe. So I don't think thats right advice for intermediates.
I saw a video recently of this, and I fully agree. Essentially, before you swing, you must decide when you brake. Once the movement has started, if you brake, the stroke breaks, and not in a positive way.
Completely agree here, I have hard proof for a longer period of time that this happens way too often.
Also agree, bad technique with all wood feels very different than bad technique with a cannon blade. It's not about landing the ball on the table (forgiveness), it's about feeling so that you...
Ah the acoustic, what a great blade, I've had 2 of them and use to be my previous blade, before that Violin. Acoustic is such a great piece of wood :D It's definitely not slow in any case!
C-1 is more controlled and soft than G-1 as it's supposed to be the smaller brother, but probably you are...
@Larshos Definitely not the humidity! hahaha maybe more that it was frozen 🤣 All good, I funnily used it often and it was all fine, so it's interesting, but nevertherless, I will add the Aurus to the list, Aurus Sound/Select for BH and prime for FH I guess?
I see thanks @passifid ! And then I wonder, why CMD instead of Rhyzen Fire/Ice? Since I feel that CMD was a bit bouncier than those and I'm unsure a first intermediate would enjoy that :) I will add any of them to the guide after you let me know, I already added Yinhe 12 Moon blue, that is a...
Yes I see this very clearly too, also from most of the chinese influencers on youtube, it's nowadays much more compact and focused on backhand, some now even recommend to put the right foot slighty forward. What a change with before!
It lacked grip due to humidity, contact point or overall? Moon 12 I will add to the list together with Palio AK47 :)
For the Aurus, I have not tried it, wouldn't you say (from what I can read now online about sponge data and structure) that is a bit too bouncy for the first intermediate rubber...
I have tried Dynarz CMD and it gave me a lot of bounce, wouldn't you rather have Rhyzen Fire/Ice here @passifid ? For a first intermediate rubber? And for FH/BH in your experience? I'd say BH? Also, I have not tried Rhyzen ZGR, what is your experience there? Looks faster than Fire/Ice :)
I...
Thanks @Nash77 !
What blade do you have? I can then recommend what I would do in that case as the blade impacts the rubber choice a lot.
For the why on different FH/BH rubbers I mentioned in the blogpost, basically the body mechanics are different so the needs are different. The tl;dr is...
I did mention Fastarc indeed as option 4 in the tensor category, it's likely a bit too fast for a first beginner rubber but can work out.
Yinhe Moon 12 can work out too, I will add it as a budget option, I had Palio AK47 blue/yellow too there.
Thanks for the feedback!
