  1. TT11 ordering from the US and tariff bill

hoping that it will go away in a couple years.
  2. Do you teach or correct other people's techniques?

it's true. Some of the around 2000 rating people are reluctant to offer advices, at least they make me feel that way. Maybe they think they learn their stuff from coaching sessions and don't want to share for free? But I think teaching other people is actually beneficial to them, because they...
  3. Found the perfect setup for everyone unless you're a pro

I heard this from someone, and I agree. Any all wood blade with medium hardness rubber is good enough for most hobby players, unless you have a special style. You don't need to think much about equipment until you can effortlessly hit 20 consecutive loops FH and BH and can place your serve at...
  4. Do you teach or correct other people's techniques?

All are good advices. Some players are just playing for fun, I can tell that obviously. So they don't bother me even if they do illegal serves. But this guy just seems serious, but he just doesn't talk or play with anyone else. His partner/coach has good techniques, not professionally good but...
  5. Do you teach or correct other people's techniques?

In my club, there is one new guy who never plays matches. He doesn't talk to anyone, so I don't really know him. He looks new to the game. He brings his own robot to practice and seems serious to learn. But for at least a couple months, he only trains looping with another guy who never plays a...
  6. Benyamin Faraji defeats Lin Shidong

I think the coaches would want to confirm the team way before 2028 so the players have plenty of time to prepare. I am not saying LSD and WCQ can't do the job. Just that, if I want good results, I would want to have an experienced and proven veteran in my team. But it's possible that FZD really...
  7. Benyamin Faraji defeats Lin Shidong

This is why I think FZD will play in the 2028 Olympic Games. Put yourself in WLQ's shoes, this is my first Olympics as the TT president, I would want the most reliable men in my team. LSD is still lacking experience to perform under pressure.
  8. Viewership numbers

So it's ourselves to be blamed if we couldn't get our spouses to play table tennis.
  9. Viewership numbers

In the US, you would need to pay USATT annual fee to get an official rating right? I wonder how much money USATT makes and what efforts USATT tried to promote table tennis.
  10. Viewership numbers

I think team sports are in general more popular than single player sports. So for direct comparison, TT and pickleball was not popular in the US, being easy to learn and followed as a beginner is a major factor that pickleball grows faster than TT.
  11. Viewership numbers

Football is basically throwing and catching. Don't let the ball drop and go across the line. I probably would offend many people, but I think it's the most boring sport to do and watch when I often see 2 teenagers playing throw and catch in a driveway. I personally just don't see the fun in it.
  12. Viewership numbers

If a state includes table tennis in PE classes, organizes competitions between schools, and gives scholarships to town champions and state champions, I believe table tennis will grow fast in the US. But we don't have any law maker or governor who like to play table tennis. One possibility is...
  13. Viewership numbers

The puck is fast, but we can still see the people and the sticks, and people+sticks hitting each other lol. Again, people like to watch sports that when you are behind, you can use your power to fight back, even though it's a fault. Imagine in table tennis, players would throw their paddles at...
  14. Viewership numbers

yea, in TT, if you and your partner are 200 ratings apart, you start to lose some fun. But I still think that if the general public has more access to TT (like putting tables in parks), more people would like to give it a try. And I am sure a good portion of people would fine it challenging and...
  15. Viewership numbers

table tennis is too fast to watch. And if you don't play the game, you would not understand spin at all. People like to watch sports that, when you are behind, you can use power and speed to fight back - people think this is pushing your limits and never give up. But you don't have that in table...
  16. Chinese fans laughing at Hashimoto's service error during her match today

it's a loss to the TT world that she retired right after winning the Olympics. good to hear that she's still sharp.
  17. New skill unlocked: Counter-attacking opponent's loop

counter slap is better than counter loop. It smashes your opponent's confidence.
  18. Which mixed-country doubles pairings do you want to see?

FZD/ Rachel Sung Rachel Sung said in an interview that FZD is her type. If they play doubles and get some chemistry, it would help promoting table tennis in the USA. Butterfly will have the FZD ALC & Sung ALC bundle discount. XD And this can actually happen given that FZD is not in the CNT now.
  19. Solving the problem of hidden balls.. Amendment to the service rule is under way.

backhand and tomahawk. All other serves will need to be adjusted or abandoned unfortunately. I doubt this would actually get passed. But this will absolutely enforce fair serves.
  20. Solving the problem of hidden balls.. Amendment to the service rule is under way.

Good rule. umpires can actually see this from the sides. And we can implement the offside check from football.
