  1. Any Service Advice for Me?

I think the reason of the effectiveness of this return was in the opponent's bad positioning. JJ prepared for reaching the ball if it goes wide on his forehand side. Because of the height of the ball and the placement he couldn't generate enough power in that shot.
  2. Any Service Advice for Me?

If you want to win points with serves yes, slow serves won't make it, only against lower level players. But for set up a point, they are excellent. I've seen my coach serve short and slow (not very slow, but quite slow) many times. Here is a video about his match play: (he is the winner)
  3. Chinese rubber contact

Boosted rubbers generate a 'hitting' sound even on loops. That sound indicates that the sponge is used in the shot. If you only do a slight brush with the topsheet, it will be quiet. When you use an unboosted rubber, only hits and powerloops generate that sound. But Ma Long's rubbers are boosted...
  4. Any Service Advice for Me?

Short servs don't have to be fast. If you serve a spiny short ball a lot of players' reaction a slow push. And the slow push on a spinny ball often ends in the net. And who can flick short spiny balls usually won't use a fast flick on a slow ball, and you can attack the weaker opening flick.
  5. Any Service Advice for Me?

Nice serves! I don't know how good are your opponents but mine usually loop the longer balls (which doesn't bounce twice) so you could practice to keep short the pendulum serves (like in ghost serves). You are very good in hide before-touch movement, so try to do more varied spin serves!
  6. Michael Maze ends his career!

Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui, Werner Schlager, Jörg Roßkopf... I'm sure that there are many others.
  7. Chinese rubber contact

You should sink the ball into the sponge AND brush the ball. With only brush the ball will be a spinny but very slow ball. It easily can fall out of the rubber (loud Tzizz sound). Chinese rubbers are for powerful loops.
  8. Michael Maze ends his career!

I hope we will see him as coach and won't disappear from the table tennis life as Christian Süss. :(
  9. Chinese rubber contact

Against block or light topspin: Hit the ball on the upper part with quite opened (around 70 degree) bat angle, before contact you should flatten the angle and accelerate with the wrist. Your arm must move forward. Use the forefinger. That are the basics.
  10. Recommended forehand rubbers

Bluefire M2 isn't bad, but it's unlinear and has a short life. Plus Tenergys and Evolutions have a way better spin and speed.
  11. Recommended forehand rubbers

It sounds that you are a strong player in your age group. 5th place in the country (even in team) is good and I think your touch should be good. That level I would recommend you Tenergy05/80, Tibhar Evolution MX-P/MX-S or boosted Hurricane 3 Neo. Try to put as much power in your shots as you can...
  12. China Warm Up Matches for WTTTC 2016!

Not bad from Liu Dingshuo. I hope we will see him in international matches in the near future.
  13. Sponge for 999 Topsheet

I've never played any of these sponges but heard good things about eacheng's red sponge. (61second) There is someone who tried that?
  14. About all equipment issues..

Everything is true below a level. Then you must use faster, spinnier equipment for the better results. But that level is high and most of the forumers (and EJs) aren't on that level. (I'm not sure about EJs...should we call Ma Long an EJ? :)) A little story: if I remember correctly, Peter...
  15. Recommend very slow very spinny very cheap setup plz

Power is not a problem, it depends on technique. But untuned DHS Skyline 2 is great for hard shots and hard to beat in terms on spin. The mentioned PF4 can be even better.
  16. Return grip to my rubbers

Oil works even this :) My teammate tried.
  17. Which pimples rubbers are the most common among the pro modern defenders?

For short pips TSP Super Spinpips, TSP Spectol and Friendship 802-40. Long pips as Paccheco said: TSP Curl P-1 or Butterfly Feint Long III.
  18. Set-up

Buy a tacky chinese rubber and train with that. Loops will be harder to execute but you will learn the right technique. Even Kristian Karlsson said that he used chinese rubber to improve his forehand. I don't see any problem with the Powerwood. A new blade won't help drastically. If you are...
  19. How old are you?

    17. I have not expected that much under 20 people.
