They aren't marketed that way, but they have established themselves that way. Though I'm not sure what your point is... you think that sponsored players that get to rigorously test whatever equipment they want are pushed towards 05 and 09c and away from 80 because...marketing?

So you didn't like D05. That's fine. A more accurate statement would be that you can't play well with it far from the table but if Kirill, Assar and retired Maze use it on both sides I'm guessing it can play okay far from the table.
