Isn't the rubber weight important too in that regard? Most of rubbers I used weighed about 40-60 grams when cut. That deviation seems substantial if we are talking 5grams different on blade itself making difference..

Also in my personal experience wooden blades have more gears that are more easily "selectable".

Not all of them are easy. I personally have issues with caching the ball with no bounces (it still bounces ones or twice). It's a great boredom killer though.
