  1. Is it time for a faster blade?

I'd like to caution You a little bit about Your serves. Instead of holding the ball upside down before the serve put it in Your open palm first. I can see some umpires having problems with this. I myself get lots of remarks that my throw is not high enough... Cheers L-zr
  2. Anyone using grip tape anymore?

In the old days I use to sand my blades to get rid of the finish. If You want You can use linseed oil or something equivalent to protect it from sweat. My hands don’t sweat much so I don’t bother. Cheers L-zr
  3. Anyone using grip tape anymore?

Never did, I think it screws up the feeling. Cheers L-zr
  4. What blade and rubber do You guys recommend?

"I have been playing table tennis for four years and now i want something faster so of course I can do topspin and loop very easily" You realize that with a faster setup it's gong to be harder to do top spin. Cheers L-zr
  5. Advice for a first custom paddle

I think that Sweden Extra is too slow for Rakza 7 Soft. Instead on backhand go a little bit thinner if You want a slower pace. So 2,0 on FH and 1,5 - 1,8 on BH. Rakza 7 Soft is a really slow rubber and Rakza 7 although not slow it's not super fast either. Look at one of Dan's later review videos...

Excellent, page, Should I order a blade (standard size, handle and wood), approximately how long will it take to make? Edit: Just spotted it, It's in the FAQ, sorry. Cheers L-zr
  10. Advice for a first custom paddle

Hi, You have the right idea. A Yasaka Sweden Extra may be the last blade You'll ever need. I suggest Mark V rather than Sriver. I used to play Mark V and super Sriver 50 years ago, so when I started to play again of of course I wanted the same. Super Sriver is not awailable but Sriver was so I...
  11. Why and when did Aluminium blades leave the world?

OK, I see one thin aluminum layer, I got the impression that whole thing was Alu. My mistake. Cheers L-zr
  12. Why and when did Aluminium blades leave the world?

They are not legal to play with in a tournament. A blade must consist of mostly wood. I dont remember the %. I have never heard of an aluminium blade before??? Cheers L-zr
  13. Racket for 7-yr-old kid? Racket for 55-yr-old dad of the kid?

Make sure You buy something not too heavy. Look for a child or junior blade at a big manufacturer like Butterfly, Tibhar or Joola etc... Then put a beginners rubber on it, make sure the rubber also is light. It doesn't matter so much yet how the racket plays. The only thing is it should not be...
  14. Wanting Advice on Equipment and Reviews of Equipment

You would have to hit harder, I wouldn't say impossible but harder. Remember that the blade and rubber is one unit. You can (up to a degree) compensate with the rubber. I have a superfast (Primorac carbon) blade with a slow (Rakza 7 Soft) rubber. This combo has approximately the same speed as...
  15. Wanting Advice on Equipment and Reviews of Equipment

If You want something slower than BTY innerforce layer ZLF, You have: BTY Boll control, BTY Boll Allround and the sister to Your blade BTY innershield layer ZLF (defensive super slow blade)... Cheers L-zr
  16. Wanting Advice on Equipment and Reviews of Equipment

I’m with Brs. According to butterfly this blade is as slow as it gets. I have an inneforce alc.s I rate it as off- at the most. The innerforce zlf is rated slower and my experience tells me that butterfly’s rating is accurate. Go with a slower rubber first. Cheers L-zr
  17. Yes, I know: another serve rules rant...

That (I think) is about to destroy football, everybody screaming for VAR check all the time. That can work on two ways It can strengthen the referee or it can undermine him... There is always going to be a few bad calls in a game and that’s OK. I have seen occasions where the game is interrupted...
