Don't the men and the women have ratings? Over here, I think women playing a separate women only competition exclusively has stopped 30 or 40 years ago. There's still a women only competion, but women can and usually do participate in what used to be the men's and is now a mixed competition...

Played the competition yesterday. Started off with a relatively solid win over a very skillful young and fast woman (much younger), then lost two abysmal matches. Actual matchplay wasn't that bad, but I'd been spending a few hours in service practice and I'm thinking that kind of messed with...

This I like. A lot. Yet finding depth on deeply spinny balls is remarkably hard, and net clearance is very high if you do. Which is what is likely to confuse the opponent somewhat. Until they figure it out, after which you'll bet scorched by blazing counterspins whizzing by, that is.

I think that's all about full commitment, going through the ball without hesitation, full power from the ground up (legs, hips, upperbody, whip mechanics) in total dedication. Timing is crucial, and you need the full power of the sweet spot on the blade, and you totally need to get the bat...

Opening up on backspin is a more upwards movement. Spinning over nospin, or counterspinning a topspin, requires a more forward movement. You go into the ball more, and to do so your starting point may be higher and you might have to dig a little less deeply. Even if you go deep, the key is...

Actually, I certainly don't think the Genesises have any problem in generating spin. Really, they don't.
