  1. Help to improve transition between BH and FH

Random? Ok, but I'd go for the Falkenberg drill first --
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yes, aging is a thing. I'm slowly recovering from a cervical disc herniation, the cause of which might not be entirely unrelated to my taking up tabletennis again. That, and intensifying my piano practice. Anyway, that came with immense pain and severely limited my FH play for a few months...

    Eyes always on the ball.
  4. Old Stars taking part in WTTC 2017

Unlike Šurbek, I thought, but then I looked that up — and yes, there's a BTY Šurbek. And a Grubba. And a Secrétin. And a Douglas. No Kucharski, though.
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

What happens if you fh-spin after twiddling, ie using the T05? Your issue sounds very familiar; was taught the same way, way back when.
  6. Old Stars taking part in WTTC 2017

Tibor Klampár, you dark horse you! Whodathunk… [emoji57]
  7. Does lacquering the blade effect its performance?

I'd rather consider it a nocebo effect, if anything but unsubstantial.
  8. Does lacquering the blade effect its performance?

Maybe the reds are consistently lower in quality; couldn't say.
  9. Does lacquering the blade effect its performance?

My black Grip also feels slightly harder, and also turns out more durable. Noticed the same phenomenon on Friendship rubbers.
  10. The Andro Rasanters are available

With durability seemingly one of the things in question for the Rasant series, that topic is on the table. This will take a little more patience than just the first weeks of EJ exhilaration.
  11. Why do the Brits suck at Table Tennis when they invented it

Ah, that classic rhetoric figure - the loaded question that cannot be answered without tacitly subscribing to the implicit assumptions it stipulates. Are you still beating your wife?
  12. Stats of CNT players against non-CNT players 2017

While I have nothing against round things, generally, I don't see much of value in the last few iterations of this particular thread. Must be me, sorry.
  13. Friendly match Video, feedback please!

I'm noting a few things. This is a very imbalanced game, but that's been remarked upon extensively already. One other thing I note even in this game is footwork/balance. When unexpectedly receiving a short return (forgot to jot down the timestamp, sorry) you move forward and lean in - without...
  14. The Andro Rasanters are available

Tough one. To replace Rasant Grip (45º) the most obvious candidates would be Rasanter R42 (42º) and Rasanter R47 (47º). What direction would wisdom dictate, harder or softer? My game is actively offensive, based from the 1st position (touch game, looping, active and passive blocks as well as...
  15. TT in Germany

I'd suggest selecting the best fit for your study first. Clubs abound, and given the presence of lots of students in a country in which table tennis is not a marginal sport you're bound to find a good club just about anywhere. As a researcher, I've been deployed now and then a few months in...
  16. Advice what to get after a break

Mmm, large differences in throw between BH and FH then. At some point I used Tenergy 05 FH (high) and Friendship 729 (low) and that combination never got to feel just right. Though it was fun BH-smashing returns coming up after a FH spin, it was really detrimental when off the table.
  17. Advice what to get after a break

Your setup sounds fine to me, but I do get the impression you just need to put in more training hours. When I started playing again, thinner (1.7-1.9mm) rubbers helped me regain consistency and get basic techniques sorted out again. At least a bit of softness in the rubbers seems to help there...
  18. [Question] pre-assembled table tennis rackets

Tested, decided, and assembled a bunch for newcomers to the club. About 40 setups of a basic 5-ply Stiga plus Friendship 729 (1.5mm) serve nicely for developing technique. They're slightly under €30 a piece. I'd avoid premades; haven't seen any good enough for the basic strokes.
  19. Your first setup, Or where did it all go wrong?

I started out end of the seventies with crap gear, then a slightly damaged Stiga Offensive blade (its side splintered, probably by slamming it into the table in frustration) with Mark V 2.0. This was considered a speed monster back then, ill suited for a beginner. I plodded on, and while my...
