  1. Butterfly Tenergy 05 Hard

G-1 is a lot softer in overall feel and has less gears i.e. it is quite slow until you get into the ball but when you hit with 70%+ power it explodes, there aren't as many gears in between as T05H. G-1's throw is also high pretty much all the time, even when countering, whereas T05H's throw goes...
  2. Which Xiom is like MX-S

Vega Tour is only 45 degrees I believe and is a more conventional style of rubber, akin to an updated Fastarc C-1 or Razka 7 with the thin topsheet and 2.3mm sponge for the plastic ball. Most of the thin topsheet rubbers require you to get into the sponge to create spin whereas MX-S is a pure...
  3. Butterfly Tenergy 05 Hard

I used T05H on a stiff defensive blade on Sunday, a Nittaku Resist II which is made of birch and hardened snow willow, it was an impossible rubber to do anything with other than smash and counter everything with full force. I suspected that the medium/hard and quite stiff blade did not pair well...
  4. Which Xiom is like MX-S

Go for Omega V Asia, Omega VII is a lot faster and the thin topsheet changes it's behaviour for certain shots, especially touch play. If you want MX-S on steroids, then VII is a good choice but be warned it's not easy to tame.

  6. Donic Baracuda stick or twist?

For a like for like replacement you would look at Tibhar Genius Sound and Andro Hexer Powersponge, as these along with Barracuda are from the same generation and share many characteristics. See the comparison of the three in the harder sponges here...
  7. Donic Baracuda stick or twist?

Rhyzer 43 (outright power & spin) or Aurus Select (consistent, higher throw & good control).
  8. Blade suggestion for in table play- long pips ox

Do the Korean punchblockers play shakehand grip? Impressive use of the wrist if so, because punching with OX pips is not easy, the angle of the blade and contact point above the net has to be perfect because it travels in a straight line. I have seen penhold players play with this style very...
  9. Blade suggestion for in table play- long pips ox

The answer to this question is highly dependant upon the pips you decide to use on your backhand and whether you mix chops in with loops/hits on your forehand. Tensor pips such as D.TecS, Piranha, Kamikaze etc are very sensitive to blade speed and should only be used up to All+, possibly Off-...
  10. My thoughts on Rozena

In my journey up the divisions, I used to win many points with high spin loops that the opponent blocked long. However, once I reached the top division, which is a big jump in standard from Div Two, those guys aren't bothered by spin at all. They can block or re-loop any amount of spin I can put...
  11. What’s Joola rhyzm equivilent in xiom please

Rhyzm is a fast but very linear rubber with a medium to low throw and a 48 degree sponge. Therefore, I would have thought Omega V Tour would be the closest (just a bit higher throw and the catapult kicks in later). That's just my subjective opinion, others may say different. I went from Rhyzm...
  12. Andro Treiber Z vs Butterfly Innerforce ZLC

Have you considered the Butterfly Garaydia ZLC blade? It has that soft feeling due to the thickness of the Hinoki outer ply, but it is super solid when blocking, driving and smashing. It is definitely a full notch faster than Outer ALC blades like the Viscaria etc but its control/speed ratio...
  13. Rakza 7 soft MAX VS Tibhar Evo EL-S 1.9 on BH ?

What is your strongest / most played shot on your backhand? How far from the table do you play? Can you read your opponents spin well? What throw do you prefer on backhand? Do you brush the ball on backhand or hit through the sponge to create spin?

  17. MydasDiablo

Comment by 'MydasDiablo' in media 'Dimitrij Ovtcharov vs Simon Gauzy (Ochsenhausen vs Orenburg)'

If that is Hurricane on his forehand he really should reconsider...He doesn't appear to have a forehand looping stroke anywhere near what it should be to make that rubber work for him at the highest level of the game. It's a real shame to see him go down to Gauzy in that manner.
  18. Tibhar Evolution EL-S and FX-S

For me it's simple, if you play active backhand strokes with strong force then go EL-S as less balls will go long on less than perfect contact, however if you are used to the sponge doing some of the work for you and you use more of your wrist and less your arm then MX-P makes more sense. EL-S...
