Yup, the wildcard didn't exist from the getgo, at least theoretically. Up until last year, trial had always consisted of only 1 stage of mass round robin, always held in Dec. This year is the 1st time for 2 stages, mass round-robin for stage 1, still held in Dec, and then knock-out for stage...
