  1. 2018 World Junior U18 TT Championships

There's some good in this. Folks complained when two 15-year-old's(looking at Ito in 2015 and Harimoto in 2018) popped up in the top 10. I once commented the new ranking system would make that much harder to happen. Check out Moregard, his personal best was 166 at the end of 2017, after the...
  2. Xu Xin's Equipment

Stiga is desperate here. Their bottom line doesn't look too good.
  3. Table Tennis "BACKHAND" (Video)

It's not just me. Former English coach Liu Jiayi, who coached Drinkhall, had this to say about European table tennis in 2007. http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2007-05-21/12492934210.shtml In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the European was the world leader in techniques, but now it is clearly...
  4. December World Rankings 2018

    Ya, this one.
  5. 2018 World Junior U18 TT Championships

Sad indeed. This is the last edition for Kanak, right? They have a real chance of making podium.
  6. 2018 World Junior U18 TT Championships

The new ranking system now has separate senior and junior ranking lists, which makes it totally worthless for eligible junior players who are close to the top already to compete in. South Korea doesn't even bother with the boys.
  7. Kai Yoshida still in good shape.

Real men don't need RPB. Be water, my friend.
  8. What's going on here? Doubles match

The kid with the 84 tag is genius. He has it in him to be a great hypnotist. The English pair served first in the game at 0:0. The error wasn't discovered until two points later, which should've been the English pair's turn to serve. According to the rule, if I'm not mistaken, the game...
  9. Joola bought Joola

Well, you can get a rough idea even without being in the loop.
  10. Good Morning Britain making fun of little TT girl and calling TT "boring" sport

I find the tone of the clip to be ok. You have Piers on one side supporting the notion of being good at anything than nothing, and then you have Susanna and Sean on the other end saying just let kids be kids. The only issue I have is the video title. If anything, the word prodigy is seldom...
  11. Joola bought Joola

I always thought it was a US brand because of the Atlanta Olympics, and indeed, they have a strong presence in the US. Who would've thought 2 decades later...
  12. Table Tennis "BACKHAND" (Video)

I see a very worrying trend here. The overall FH quality of European players has stagnated, perhaps even regressed, in the last 2 decades. The 1st point makes an excellent example here. It should and would have ended on the 4th shot(2nd forehand shot) if you go back a decade or so.
  13. T League - Japan's New TT league

It might be a good idea to explain the match format again because they changed it on 11/14. Due to poor wording, one of the rules could be interpreted such that a player could play in 3 matches, 1 doubles and 2 singles. They changed it. As for the same player playing in 2 consecutive matches...
  14. World Tour Grand Finals 2018

    1st time ever I've seen this. https://d3mjm6zw6cr45s.cloudfront.net/2018/11/2018_WTGF_Prospectus-FINAL-3.pdf
  15. How to improve from 2000 to 2200

Tactics. When I play kids, first thing I try is, 1: serve double heavy backspin, 2: lob them down. Most kids usually have trouble because they are not used to the amount of spin and they don't have the strength to open it up. Lobbing is a quick and dirty way to demoralize them since they...
  16. How to improve from 2000 to 2200

A video is better than a million words. You're pretty consistent, and just playing more aggressive alone can get you further ahead. How to do that? Better bio-mechanics and more sophisticated tactics.
