I had been trounced by Lorestas a few times in tournaments and it cheers me up quite a bit to see that even vastly better players than myself get bamboozled by his serves 🤣

Lol, who plays table tennis with golf balls? 😄

Which serves in this video did you find particularly tricky?

Looks like YouTube is experiencing some service hiccups, lots of reports everywhere.

Wouldn't put it past Stiga's marketing department to decide that a EULA for their rubbers or blades is an idea worth considering ...

I know two local league players who can loop very well on both wings using a 1cm+ thick balsa blade with rubbers like Mark V and Joola Green Energy. Don't overthink it...

Thanks Ian. I was very fortunate in that match - my opponent played with an injury sustained in the previous match - otherwise who knows how it would have ended. My only other win was against another "conventional" looper so not sure whether my adaptations against hitters were successful enough...

Ian - good seeing you at the tournament yesterday. Many thanks again for lending me the tripod for the day! I saw Reinhard and Andy were in your group - both have very unique styles and could be very tricky to play against.

I've been playing with Tibhar Hybrid MK on my BH for 2.5 months now, averaging three practice sessions per week, cleaning the rubber with plain tap water after playing and storing it covered by a tacky protective sheet. See attached photos for comparison of a brand new topsheet vs the 2.5...

Thank you for this video - very educational and a great example of how to present physics of table tennis. Someone should send a Cypershape to the professor - both as a thank you and an attempt to tempt him into making a follow-up video :) P.S.: And the bit about another prof re-discovering...

Ah, the side-underspin chiquita, that elusive and rare shot which some people claim does not exist ... Here's me observing it from the receiving end:

You will probably not like this, but it is a direct consequence of using very hard rubbers on BH. Look at your earlier post in the "how comfortable are you with hard (53+) rubber on your backhand?" thread: In practice, when you're not under pressure, hard rubber on BH might feel great. But in...

DN was my favourite female table tennis player for a very long time, and I also felt the same emotions at first. IMO, had it been a pure exhibition match, the final score would have been 40:39 to DN, not 40:24 to Persson.

Interesting interview. In part 1, he appears to say that Hina Hayata "can easily return the ball from male players" and that he himself "cannot lose to anyone other than Sun Yingsha" (quoting Google translate). Sounds like the current top female players have improved dramatically compared to...
