  1. Friendship 2-in-1 new sponge?

Well, of course. I have some on the way, see how it compares to Golden Star. Want to try it before it gets banned.
  2. Friendship 729 battle 3

Yeah, back in the day I used the "loop" version of golden star and that had soft-first. Low-effort spin and lifting backspin was great but when the 2nd sponge kicked in my brain just gave up. I never tried the hard-first version, and this was a non-tacky rubber back then. I wonder what this...
  3. Friendship 729 battle 3

As ever, this kind of thing has been done before. KTL did Golden Star back in 2012. A deep cut for the truly insane EJs out there. Now the can of worms is back open! Is it legal, what does it do, who's buying it etc.....
  4. Heming Hu on Equipment

Interesting video with Heming Hu on equipment, sponsorship, boosting etc
  5. UK Table Tennis Prospects

TTE have released a video which tries to explain the reasoning behind the changes - I've only heard negative feedback from players so far, but to be honest I can't quite visualise how it will all shake out in the end.
  6. NEW Gold Arc 9

It's got more spin than Rozena, similar speed, plus some options on sponge hardness (Rozena is just....Rozena), But it's definitely in that ballpark, I think the 38 degree version is similar to Glayzer (normal, not 09c) too. Last sheet I ordered was $20 from prott, $5 shipping. To be honest...
  7. Friendship 729 battle 3

38 is still pretty hard, tough to bottom it out unless you're really swinging hard. As you say - it adds more catapult to the low end, sacrifices a little top end that probably isn't important to most people. I think B3-38 with booster compares very well to harder 50-52 degree eurojap...
  8. WTT Champions Chongqing 2024

Sad times, end of an era for sure. Total legend.
  9. Andro Nuzn 50 and 55

    Surprisingly affordable.
  10. Andro Nuzn 50 and 55

A little more spin, more speed though, and only if you hit the ball like Gauzy. That said, I like the idea of being more data driven and making the numbers public. Would be much better if they also explained the methodology in more detail too. Maybe we can dream that the technology will be...
  11. 2024 WTT Contender Taiyuan 5/21-5/26

Just watched Lebrun v Lin and there were a lot of whiffed shots....
  12. NEW Gold Arc 9

GA9 is $20, GA5 $25 and GA8 is $32. I'd say GA9 is similar in speed to GA5 but with better spin and a more japanese feel. The price difference isn't massive here, and something newer like Vega Korea is $34 (another one of the grippy control/spin options out there). It's a long way from a GA8...
  13. NEW Gold Arc 9

Quick update on GA9 37. I find I really like using it on BH during training sessions, very stable and everything goes on. During a match it lacks power - blocks and flat hits are slower than I'd like, looping is consistent and spinny but on the slow side. I wouldn't call it super slow but it...
  14. Identification of the sponge is due and overdue.

Looks like the manufacturing date code for month and year. Like they use on boxes of balls.
  15. UK Table Tennis Prospects

I think he's got Ionescu. Paul's playing really well at the mo, looks in good shape as well. Hope he carries on!
  16. NEW Gold Arc 9

I didn't spend long enough with GA9 this week to give proper feedback - we're getting our juniors ready for an event this weekend, short on time, only had 1 hour to myself for practice. I will say Topspinslinger's impressions sound right - it's slower than GA8, around the GA5 area but less...
  17. World Cup 2024

We've reached the Ma Long Chaos Era.
  18. World Cup 2024

Can't blame FZD for being a bit distracted today. New Taylor Swift album dropped overnight.
  19. NEW Gold Arc 9

My sheet of GA9 has arrived. Red, 2.0mm, 37 degree. 65.9g uncut, H169mm x W164mm. Comes in a sealed packet inside the cardboard wrapper, and has a sparkly piece of card protecting the topsheet. Looks nice, will give it a try over the weekend.
  20. Xiom Vega H release?

Had a session with VPH last night, early impressions are - although it's physically very different to the OG Vega Pro, it feels pretty close to what a slightly tacky VP would be if you had to guess in advance. It's spinny, bit slower than VP, high arc but the lack of pace pulls the ball up...
