  1. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

It's probably the most tensor-y out of those, but honestly they're exaggerating the effect quite a bit IMO. Moon Speed also has the "max tense" label and it's not remotely as bouncy as even low-end ESN tensors. But yeah, fair, I'd say BDV is enough of a hybrid.
  2. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

They don't have any surface tension, so they're not hybrids AFAIK. If LAC and BDV have tension, it's almost nonexistant. They're probably the most hybrid-y out of those. Battle 2 is a traditional Chinese rubber, even when very factory tuned ala National Super Select, with a sponge only slightly...
  3. What Are Hybrid Table Tennis Rubbers and Why Are They So Popular Nowadays?

I really wouldn't categorize BDV, J3, Target 3, LAC and ESPECIALLY Battle 2 as "hybrid". Most of those quite literally don't have surface tension at all, nor any kind of tuning. If those are hybrid, then so is Hurricane 3. :)
  4. I accidentally made a Chinese rubber insanely tacky — so I started experimenting

I'd like to find out how to NOT sweat enough to clean two rubbers. Maybe that explains why my tacky rubbers stay tacky effectively forever.
  5. I accidentally made a Chinese rubber insanely tacky — so I started experimenting

Basically all of my Chinese rubbers become a bit stickier after boosting (to the ball, and to my hand), although I feel like the effect wears off in a few hours of hitting, so it doesn't seem permanent.
  6. SANWEI Target National CP-Tuned — Compact Sponge × Factory Tuning

The LARC doesn't actually include sponges apart from the max thickness sample. "2.4.4 The blade, any layer within the blade and any layer of covering material or adhesive on a side used for striking the ball shall be continuous and of even thickness. Material suitable to shape a handle for...
  7. SANWEI Target National CP-Tuned — Compact Sponge × Factory Tuning

That's how all TT sponges work, and how all springs work in fact. It's mostly marketing nonsense mumbo jumbo to try to differentiate a product that's not really that different. The only thing that probably really differentiates this sponge from other Chinese ones is that the pores are larger...
  8. FH issue: i dun wanna smash no moar, i wanna spin moar. help!

Going from a 5ply to an inner blade allowed me to start learning to spin the ball more when stepping away from the table a few meters, because I'm not so preoccupied on getting enough forward power to land it on the table. So I don't think slower is always better for development either.
  9. FH issue: i dun wanna smash no moar, i wanna spin moar. help!

I get what you mean, but I dunno if ideal is a thing for this. I argue there's a lot of value to a slightly slower, very spinny loop hit from under the net or even table height that can change direction at the last moment and land just about anywhere. A not so well-known guy called Ma Long...
  10. Loki W81 Outer ALC

Could you measure the handle dimensions at the back of the handle and at the wings? So the height and width. Thanks!
  11. FH issue: i dun wanna smash no moar, i wanna spin moar. help!

I think it's not really possible to offer specific advice unless you post some video and specify what part you're talking about.
  12. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

My impression from using it for a few sessions is that it's pretty mediocre for a forehand rubber, but I thought it'd be pretty good for the backhand. Funnily that was also my impression of Jupiter 3 38A and they measure almost exactly the same hardnesses in Shore A and O on both sides of the sheet.
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I can get it to roll back past me on long serves, not quite on short ones, but it'll come about halfway. Ghost serve is easy too. Most of these are top, though. (Looked at the ones I uploaded again and there's not that much pure top in there, more like light back/side which turns into light top...
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Partner skipped today, so no hitting video, but I managed to film some serving. :) Had to throw most of it away due to people in frame or other issues, but here's what I could get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6siawTA1xQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWGs40h5V4s...
  15. Pre Season Training & Matches

What if he's netting them because he doesn't get enough friction on the ball because he's afraid of hitting it out due to the open racket angle? ;)
  16. Calderano and his new equipment

I'm not sure that a manufacturer would make equipment for just one sponsored player while not intending to make it into a product they could recoup the costs from, apart from if it's for development like Tenergy 09c, something that you intend to lose money on in the near term to be able to make...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@UpSideDownCarl Hi Carl-in-a-few-months! No video for today, but I focused on moving my legs first on every shot, and evaluating the opponent's shot before I do anything with my upper body. No miracles, but I did play a bit more consistently, and I took a reasonable enough player to 2-0...
  18. Reviving worn H3 topsheet by putting booster on it

I did this back in the day for my 729 Super FX, but with olive oil. I'm sure the booster will work stronger, although wear it even more.
  19. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

You should just measure the bounce height when dropped at low speed. The CR is highest at low speed, around 0.5 to 0.7, and the deltas will be the highest if there is any. I've only ever found lower CR which is consistent with breakdown of the sponge.
  20. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

Have you measured the hysteresis or is this just some impression? I can't really say I've ever used *any* rubber that didn't just become slower and less bouncy after use.
