  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yea, yesterday at practice a higher level player was advising me to do that. He said what I think is a forward stroke is actually fairly upward. I'm tinkering a lot with my BH to try to find the optimal form. It took me a long time on the FH side but I finally managed it, wonder if it's gonna...
  2. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

LSD needs to take some time off and revamp his game IMO. If he wants to be a contender for GOAT, and I think he has the talent to do so, he needs to work on his footwork and develop a more reliable FH finisher.
  3. Overall Technique focus

I agree, you should be able to hit at all timings. Later timing is a bit easier so that's a good place to start actually. My coach makes me wait for the ball to fall a bit in practices against backspin as I tend to take it early, it's a good timing to practice your fundamentals, but of course...

Over the past week I've been mostly focused on the basics of BH and FH loop. I realized that I can't just stop practicing FH and expect the new form to stick, so I did a good amount of FH practice this week with my training partner. I basically did a condensed version of my entire learning...
  5. Need Advice: Best way to clean heavy sweat/oil stains off a Viscaria?

I don't think those stains on the blade face is grime from use. Glue is an excellent cleaner and every time you rip off a rubber the glue will remove everything on the blade face so there's no possible way for anything to build up on the blade face. That looks like wood aging from the elements...
  6. Cleanest serves in Table Tennis - Benedikt Duda

He's been faulted for backward toss before.
  7. Singapore Smash 2026, Singapore, 2/19-3/1

Interesting that WCQ is being called for serving from in front of the line, and won his challenge.
  8. Can a European Forehand have advantages over a Chinese style forehand?

There's really no difference anymore. Most Chinese and non-Chinese players these days have the same FH structure these days. If you look at Franziska's FH structure for example, it's probably straighter armed than WCQ's. Also, my understanding of the old straight armed loop is that you swing...

Had a long club session Monday, started off with a coaching session. I haven't been training my FH basically at all since the start of the year, and unfortunately starting to fall back to some old habits. Timing was off, I was hooking with my racket, and I was raising the shoulder. Ugh. Took...

Of course the opponent matters more, but we have the same players just using different rubbers. I don't think it's that big of a deal, it was just an interesting observation. I've had to work a lot this week, didn't get to play much. I did go to the Pleasanton club on Sat, where I play mostly...
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I doubt everyone's got a mental block. What speed/spin loops does your friend deal with? It sounds like you're used to facing slow loops from H3, have you tried blocking a loop from H3 that's just as fast as one from a Dignics?
  12. Match tactics

I think I should clarify, rally tactics is not really useful at lower levels, it should really be limited to just the first 3 balls. The OP mentioned specific situations which he hope to ameliorate with tactical changes, and all of those situations are in a rally, so I was mainly referring to that.
  13. Match tactics

That's the issue with talking tactics at this level of play. What can you realistically execute? Also, if per @Zezima's account he's mostly just reacting during play, he needs to first develop the ability to add thinking into the game first, i.e. make it read-think-react rather than read-react...

I use Chrome, it works fine for me. What are you blocked by?

I remember when we played in my garage, you were telling me that I didn't need such a big stroke especially against heavy long pushes. I couldn't execute it then. A few weeks ago I was playing against a CPen guy (recently took down a 2100+ kid visiting the club) with a really good long...

I don't know what's going on exactly but this new receiving stance has ignited something in me. Not only has my BH receives against long services improved tremendously, it's also rapidly improving my BH flick and my BH loops in general. It's like I found the missing piece of the puzzle, and...

Spinsight measures speed too, and there is no difference in speed or spin.
  19. Looking for a Fh Rubber

It's hard to get advice from the general public. With that said, I think if a lot of people are saying the same thing, especially if many of them have gone through similar things as him, he should at least give their advice a try instead of just constantly arguing with them. It's really looking...
  20. Looking for a Fh Rubber

I see what your issue is, you think that thick dude is "slapping" the ball. No, the woman was slapping the ball from time to time, the thick dude has the right amount of hit/spin ratio. Whatever sponge you use, you need to loop like him.
