  1. Table tennis movies

I watched SnTM when it was airing. I wouldn't exactly call it accurate. It was fun for what it was, which is Saki with takkyuu and lesbians, and it got some people interested, so there's that. Some calculations were made as to just how much spin Kururi was producing on the sidespin...
  2. Pistej uses beginner serves against Harimoto?

While I think that shouting before someone serves should just give you a yellow card immediately, serving before someone's ready is worse.
  3. What is your second passion?

I'd like to hear about that.

It was recovering quite well to the point where it felt like it was 98% gone, and then I slightly hurt myself again and probably overused my back, and it came back. I think it would have fully healed in a few weeks had I not pushed it. At least now I learned. It's doing the same pattern as last...

Did some drills today, block vs loop. Was all fine, but near the end a nerve in my upper back felt like it was not agreeing anymore with what I was doing, so I just went home before I get a one way ticket to Snap City. I'll take a week off and check back, so I don't cause any more injuries. If...
  6. Worlds Sexiest Female TT Player

TWI, I fail to understand how pedophilia and more feminine clothes for female TT players are related. It's up to the parents and the kids themselves to present themselves in a decent way. Blame nature for making fairly young girls look like women. Even if women in their early 20's are still...
  7. Worlds Sexiest Female TT Player

It really is interesting, when a large majority of women express delight and enjoyment in appearing feminine, yet it's normal to assume that a woman's value is somehow degraded if she appears more like, well, a woman. The whole notion of women being disrespected if they appear more...
  8. Table tennis movies

Not exactly a movie in format, and not even live action, but Ping Pong the Animation is a must watch. Second only to Balls of Fury. http://www.crunchyroll.com/ping-pong-the-animation
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Sure, when I come back. For now, I will go and see what my body lets me do at the table. I'll be more careful this time: probably little to no looping. Greg Letts has a pretty good video on adapting the forehand loop for injured and older players, here: I'm doing this kind of...
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I can't help you much, but I offer my sympathies. Several weeks ago I injured myself doing a really bad form forehand shot while stretched, and I still occasionally wake up to tingling and slight pain in my body. A bad case of nerve pinch. What I learned: Always warmup, don't be lazy on any...
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

@ttmonster For a long time I had big problems making power, and even getting drives over the net consistently was difficult. So I took big swings at everything. Now with the same setup, I'm moving on to smaller swings, mostly because they're much more reliable in quality and consistency and...
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I've only really used hard sponge rubbers, to be fair. There's probably something in the feel that I'm missing. I know how to adjust between "thin brush" and "thick brush" but it's very on/off. Not much inbetween.
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Just because it makes sense doesn't mean it's right. My overall quality has increased lately, and I'm not swinging much faster at all than before. So I understand where ttmonster is coming from. It's not just the energy, it's where it goes, really. You can swing as fast as you want...
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

That's where timing comes in I presume. I'm pretty sure they swing with a hell of a lot of acceleration, even if it might not look it.
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yeah, but I can bet you that if you add more acceleration to the blade face, it's just gonna keep increasing the spin up to a point where humans just can't reach.

From a physics standpoint, racket head speed makes the most sense out of all the "secrets".
  17. Racket for a beginner

Just a word of warning, but the Stiga Allround Evolution is quite fragile, and comes very unfinished. If you tend to bash your stuff around, I'd watch out with Stiga blades. They will get dents: mine has several. The good thing is you can sand it down to just how you like it.
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Honestly, to me it looks like pros mostly just get a whole lot more racket head speed than we do.
  19. Kong Linghui suspended as head coach of Chinese women's team!

It's hard to judge when we don't know at all what really happened. It could all be a load of bull for all we know.
  20. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think I'm going to be doing a lot of feeding backspin in the coming weeks. My back felt a bit weird last monday when I did one stroke, so I took it easy. After that I've got the same kind of small tingling and occasional soreness in my back like I got during my injury. I took the week off...
