  1. dignics 05 vs. 09c.

D09c is harder, 44 degrees on the Butterfly scale compared to 40 degrees of the D05. I think he just meant it's both the Spring X sponge.
  2. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

So much for WCQ's weak mentality huh? 🤭
  3. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

WCQ had to fight in the men's teams in the Olympics after that loss though, and he didn't drop a match there. He also had a very bad loss against Iran but hasn't lost another since, and he sure as heck was under pressure after LJK's loss. I was thinking it's mental against Faraji, but now I...
  4. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

He's probably just feeling lost. It can happen when you're playing so unexpected poorly and you don't know how to fix it. The ball this tournament must be really different, don't think I've ever seen one with so many shocking results. I think it really shows who can adjust the best and...
  5. Is butterfly overpriced

They only approve topsheets, you're free to use whatever sponge. See how the H3 openly has 2 different types of sponge.
  6. Is butterfly overpriced

Interestingly ZJK talks about his equipment in this video and mentions that his Butterfly rubbers are custom made, that they're 3-4 degrees harder than commercial ones. This should be definitive proof that what the pros use is not the same as what we can get.
  7. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

The CNT men's team is vulnerable too, probably even more so. They'll need to get past a dangerous Korean team that almost beat them even with FZD and ML playing last year, and then probably face a team with LYJ and Kao.
  8. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Congrats to the JNT and Miwa in particular! Can't forget about Hurricane Miu's contributions too, she's what Miwa's brother missed on his team when he pulled off the two wins!
  9. What is the best way to return side topsin serves?

Let me try another way of explaining it. You know how your racket moves in an arc when you loop, like a part of a circle? Shorten your stroke and make the arc smaller, as if it's a part of a smaller circle.
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I've been fine tuning my BH, getting better at leading with my elbow as well as body usage, with the goal of maximizing quality. Every now and then I switch back to a Vis series blade (my Vis, TBALC, or FZDALC) and the consistency improves significantly. The speed too, but probably at the...
  11. Wang Chuqin loses to 14 year old!

I believe that in general, for these teams matches if they get any WTT rankings points then all teammates who play get the same amount, which is probably still a lot for Faraj.
  12. Wang Chuqin loses to 14 year old!

Does he get any? This WTT points system is just not very good at actually telling you players' levels. A player could be in a real rut but until their points expire nothing will be reflected in their ratings.
  13. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

I wonder if the seamless ball really does take some significant adjustment and evens the odds for the competing teams. Other than the heavily spin based LJK, all the Chinese players both men and women played worse than expected in their first match (I guess not enough is known about Shi and Su...
  14. Wang Chuqin loses to 14 year old!

His technique is not stable enough IMO. He needs to be able to play with tremendous spin when he's not feeling comfortable. LSD learning to do so on the FH side is what allowed him to make the leap to the top echelon this year, and LJK having been always capable (in fact that's his preferred way...
  15. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Both Chinese teams are pretty vulnerable this year as each is without 2 of their best players. Still the favorites of course, but much more interesting than normal years. Nice draws BTW. On the women's side I hope to see the Hayata vs Shi Xunyao match. Shi gave WMY all she could handle, would...
  16. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Anyone know why Japan men's team didn't play Sora?
  17. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

The LSD vs. Alamiyan match. It's just service aces or 3rd ball kills the entire 5 sets.
  18. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Perhaps not exclusive, but they're certainly more privileged than most.
  19. Need advice on playing distance from table

Yeah, so the question is what is the OP referring to when he says close to the table? If it's zone 2 then it's too close for an adult who's been training with a coach for 1.5 years. If it's zone 3 then it should be reasonable.
