  1. Why so much hate against boosters?

For anyone who thinks speed glue is safe, you are completely insane. Look up trichloroethylene, toluene, xylene or the other substances used in speed glue. Inhaling that on a daily basis is extremely harmful. Look at the ITTF timeline when they first were going to ban speed glue. Then...
  2. Quarterfinal Loss 2-3 in First U1100 Sanctioned Tournament – Please Share Pointers

I do not know if you are in the red or black (you are the guy in black), but after watching the 1st point if I were coaching either of you I would scream at you for not looping long pushes. Is your ultimate goal to be 1125 or 2000+? If you think you are limited to 1125 then push away for all...
  3. Why so much hate against boosters?

Personally boosting doesn't make much difference and I don't care about. It definitely isn't like the dramatic difference speed glue made.
  4. Advice and thoughts on wet ball during rally

Do you know who Big John McCarthy is? The next time he serves a wet ball, you scream "I'm ready! Are you ready? Let's get it on!" then you jump on the table, over the net, stay low, jump into him, take him to the ground, work until you take his back, apply a rear naked choke, choke him out...
  5. Marty Supreme: Gambling Degenerate will revive American Table Tennis

I don't think he died alone. He definitely had a lot of friends in New York. He also wasn't forgotten. Walk into any SPIN and you can see videos about him. His picture is also everywhere.
  6. Marty Supreme: Gambling Degenerate will revive American Table Tennis

I knew Marty and actually hit with him a few times. He was a character. I think the movie will be entertaining but do not expect it to revolutionize table tennis in the USA.
  7. Chinese Women! What would be their ranking if they were men?

Call me crazy, it won't be the first time and definitely not the last, but I think the CNT women's team viewed their match against the USA men's team in the spirit of friendship and not trying to be embarrassing. I also seem to remember Xu Xin being involved in a doubles match against team USA...
  8. Chinese Women! What would be their ranking if they were men?

One of my friends was on the CNT and ranked in the top 5 in the world. She said the men could give the top women around 7 points in a game to 21 and still win without taking it too seriously. Another friend was on the Army Team in China and said Liu GuoLiang could beat the entire women's team...
  9. How does a semi-pro make money playing TT?

Believe it or not, some people on a province team or even the CNT B team have to pay to be on the team. They don't make any money. If they do well in tournaments or get tournament appearance fees, but usually the better players take up a lot of the potential payout.
  10. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

I guess this is a lesson to coaches all around the world: do not upset Harimoto or show disrespect either purposefully or inadvertently. He played out of his mind in the finals.
  11. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

I find it funny that Bobrow implied something to the effect that Kanak took 17 months off or however long his suspension was. Certainly he wasn't allowed to play in any competitions but obviously he was still training 8 hours a day. With that being said, Kanak keeps improving and playing...
  12. Losing rant

Well according to him, yes. Try not to show it or do anything silly, but it is ok to be really annoyed after playing poorly.
  13. Losing rant

One of my professional player friends once said that if you aren't extremely mad after every practice and each loss, then you have given up the fight to try to improve. Also: some serves work great against one player and are useless against others. This even happens at the pro level. If...
  14. WTT Champions Japan 2025 - 7-11 Aug 2025

I think Kallberg recently got married.
  15. Light or Heavy Table Tennis Blade – Which One Is Right for You?

The legendary hard hitting table tennis star Heavyspin went from 2100ish to 2400ish by switching to a heavy bat. Maybe he will comment on this thread about how it helped him improve.
  16. I’m thinking about training in Germany

Do not go abroad unless your parents go with you. I will not go into why but the adults on the forum can guess why. Some clubs in Germany are bad news. Some places in China are bad news. I don't mean bad training either. Once you are 15, send me a DM and I can suggest some places but...
  17. How does Pro player earn money?

What level of professional? And from what country? Many top 10 players from various countries don't make any money outside of coaching locally. If they want to play internationally, it is like setting money on fire. Even if they want to play in their own country, it is like setting money on...
  18. Damien Éloi: Are the top players’ rubbers different?

Why don't manufacturers just release these super versions of the rubber for sale? They probably cost a lot more to produce and have much higher quality control. Also for some teams the rubbers are finely tuned directly for the individual athlete. But if you want to believe the top...
  19. Felix Lebrun lost 14 direct points on serve when faced Wang Chuqin

The service rules need to be completely rethought and rewritten. For example the ball has to be visible to the receiver from the start of the toss until the contact of the ball with the racket. I always ask "What if the receiver turns his back to the table to stands to the extreme side of the...
  20. Damien Éloi: Are the top players’ rubbers different?

Yes the rubbers are very different. I once got some H3 "national" from someone associated with the CNT and it was much better than what is normally available.
