  1. Mental training for Table Tennis

I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but basically playing 1 v 1 strategy games can help a lot. The first thing to a strong mentality is having a flexible mind. Having the ability to analyze and adapt to situations is very important in any 1 vs 1 match. Any card game where you can't see...
  2. What is your profession outside of TT

Studying computer science at university. :D
  3. When to change Blade/Rubbers?

There is only one point at which you should change your equipment if you're not just trying different setups: If you feel that your current setup is lacking in something even when you have decent technique. I for example changed from Donic Desto F2 to Donic Baracuda then Acuda S1 on my...
  4. Offensive backhand rubber?

The one I have is pretty good: Armstrong Hikari SR7 55° 1.8 (also available in softer sponge version 40° if I remember correctly) It has a medium-hard sponge and a tacky surface. The control is very good, but with just a bit of effort you can attack very hard. The speed difference between flat...
  5. Blocking

There's basically two ways to approach this: 1) Turn your body 2) Use your wrist As the use of the wrist for this kind of shot can cause injuries over time unless you happen to have a above average flexible and strong wrist I would recommend using the 1) method. Basically you turn your upper...
  6. bh rubber

Maybe a euro/chinese hybrid rubber like Stiga Neos Tacky can work. I played it for a long time on my backhand, because it's tacky and very controlled on blocks and short play with the medium-hard sponge. To play aggressive you have to use a lot of energy or the ball won't be very fast. But even...
  7. Being "vocal" during a game - your thoughts

For me it really releases a lot of the build up tension from my body. Not all tension, that would be kinda bad, but enough to help me be absolutely focused on the next point. Usually I take longer to return to the table after losing a point, because I will reflect on how I lost the point. I...
  8. New H3 Neo - Dirt on it won't come off..

If it does I haven't noticed it. I used cleaner and just regular water both for about a year and there is no difference in rubber durability. The cleaner works better to get tacky rubbers clean though.
  9. New H3 Neo - Dirt on it won't come off..

Rubber cleaner gets rid of that stuff for you.
  10. Plastic balls cost more than tennis balls now.

The prices are pretty ridiculous. Looking at the more complex maunufactoring process I expected an increase in the price, but didn't expect that much honestly. I think you can expect small clubs to fiind themselves in a financially pretty uncomfortable position soon.
  11. 11-0 Good or Bad?

I would always want to receive the best from my opponent as I will always give the best myself. I think it's disrespectful to hold back during a match.
  12. What is the best method to clean the rubbers?

I think it really depends on the rubber you use. If it's a rubber with a tacky/sticky surface you might want to use a cleaner to get the grip back. I tried both cleaners and just regular water for about a year each and with tacky rubbers cleaner is a lot better.
  13. Zhang Jike fined 45.000 euros!

Stop bitching boys and calm your tits. On topic though this kind of behaviour is wrong and should be punished, but as many others already said 45k Euro is way too much.
  14. My FH Loop against heavy backspin

I used to play the same and still do sometimes, but with time learned to have a more "open" stroke. What made me do this kind of stroke was my inability to hit the ball if it was too far from my body which led to me standing closer to the ball and preventing me to use rotation from the...
  15. Beginner - change from DHS to Sriver?

For developing a proper stroke I think 1.7 should be good. With the thinner sponge you get a more direct feel and the power can be transfered better on flat strokes. To keep it short your rubber won't do as much for you and you will have to do more work which will shorten the time you need to...
  16. Whether to keep developing and improving or a blade change?

One rubber 2.1 and one 1.5, is there any special reason for doing this? I think the setup would feel so imbalanced in weight that it would disrupt my game. Either way though I think with an attacking style having at least 1.7 on both sides should be used, because with anything else your speed...
  17. Please help me become better player - video

    Oya's wrist. So strong.
  18. Grip Problem

Well in my opinion a change in grip should actually be very situational. Only when you know you will get focused on one side or if you play forehand on the entire table you should change the grip. The backhand grip you discovered is something I only use to attack on a very easy ball to get...
  19. Getting Blisters from Table Tennis Racket?

Has it it always been like this for you or only recently? I also got blisters when I switched from my small handle to a normal sized one when I was around 16~17 , but that went away after a couple of weeks. (played with a small handle when I was younger and smaller and switched to normal size...
  20. Does this shot count?

Depends on the rules. In Germany it used to be counted as out, but now it's not.
