ITTF rules state that the net post and clamp are considered part of the net, so if the ball touched the net clamp or post, and somehow made its way over or around the net to land on the opponent's side IS a legal good shot.

ITTF rulez...

2.2 THE NET ASSEMBLY
2.2.1 The net assembly shall consist of the net, its suspension and the supporting posts, including the clamps attaching them to the table.

2.7 THE RETURN
2.7.1 The ball, having been served or returned, shall be struck so that it passes over or around the net assembly and touches the opponent's court, either directly or after touching the net assembly.

In such a situation, you could have a printed version of the ITTF or your nation's TTA rules and it still would probably not matter. If people are like that, some ink on some paper isn't going to change their minds, but a very attractive lady with a drink in her hand might.

This happened to me the other day in a coaching session with a 10 year old I coach. But this time around the ball clipped the top of the net, fell down onto the net post and then skidded along my side of the table. Was crazy haha!

Thanks for sharing @BornVersatile cool shot! :)
