  1. 2024 Saudi Smash May 01-11

The thing is this: let's hear how the top players make money and on that basis decide whether it makes any sense for us to compare someone whose primary source of funding is his/her government or corporate sponsorship and probably has no children to someone like Quadri, who has to manage his...
  2. 2024 Saudi Smash May 01-11

Not entirely sure I agree, 2020 and 2021 were Covid affected, and the last two years have been the first full periods of the WTT with the current year having more activity bundled in than than most of last year. There has always been some degree of continental bonus in the system, Quadri has...
  3. Dignics on a Budget?! | Glayzer vs Glayzer 09C Review

I have now seen it all. I can rest in peace now.
  4. 2024 Saudi Smash May 01-11

But playing less now impacts his ranking and his ranking is built into his opportunities to play and make money even if it isn't his primary source of revenue. So he will not make as much money if his ranking is reduced. It's definitely not straightforward.
  5. TableTennisDaily vs Pongfinity | BIGGEST MATCH EVER!

So if he is not the weakest, who was the weakest?
  6. DHS H3 vs Yasaka Rakza Z

I actually get a lot of spin with that shot and also have the option to countersmash as well. It is really about how you approach the ball , you can brush it it heavily without closing the paddle too much. But if your closed swing works for you keep doing it. I usually add quite a bit of side...
  7. TableTennisDaily vs Pongfinity | BIGGEST MATCH EVER!

He has been playing defense for a while. I don't think it would have changed the outcome even if he played better.
  8. butterfly flextra

I know a pretty strong player (2000+) who uses Flextra on both sides. It is extremely difficult to hit the ball past him, he uses flextra to block and counter topspins very consistently and the lack of power and spin on his shots also causes errors for opponents. A lot of equipment comes down...
  9. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

Now he just has to win an event when the Chinese don't show up lol. And maybe one when they do. It is crazy though that Paris may not even be his real peak. But you never know what tomorrow brings, you just have to fight
  10. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

Anyone who can summarize some of this stuff in English, I will be grateful. And anyone who can give a good overview of how to learn Chinese, even though I probably should surf Youtube and buy Rosetta stone for a serious answer, I am grateful as well.
  11. How to judge ball length?

One of the more common mistakes is to trust the length of the down the line serve - for me, a down the line serve must be *obviously* short for me to trust it, and if not, I will take the risk of letting the serve double bounce in order to attack it. Many players get a pass so often on their...
  12. World Cup 2024

    You forgot Harimoto... Hari-boy...
  13. World Cup 2024

That's not the Chinese selection ranking list. And he is still ahead of all foreign players. So is he in some trouble, yes if Felix or Lin overtake him and there is no separation by association but right now he is still due for a top 2 seed at the Olympics and that is all he needs.
  14. Harimoto: In terms of table tennis, I prefer ZJK to ML. ML is amazing but it is simply the result of working and playing diligently.

I can't say what his training regimen is but it is quite possible that he is giving Liang's age too much credit and his (Harimoto's) quality of training too much credit as well. Maybe Liang is just the better player because Liang has the better coaches, partners and training environment and...
  15. Harimoto: In terms of table tennis, I prefer ZJK to ML. ML is amazing but it is simply the result of working and playing diligently.

I suspect by hit it, he doesn't necessarily mean attack but more likely means to go long. Quality (with all it's dimensions)and the reaction speed determine everything in table tennis so it isn't so much rules but patterns of play and the ability to find patterns that favor you.
  16. How to judge ball length?

Most balls are long, very few balls are short and tight, the half long ones are tricky. But if you push short or serve short, Assume your opponent is going long until they prove they can keep the ball short by getting to it relatively early. Most late pushes tend to be long or high which give...
  17. What's the best way to practice near table counter-loop?

You have to realize that some people really believe and pretend that people who pay for coaching to learn stuff are idiots. Therefore when they struggle to learn something like this, they don't remember that smug wisdom. Coaching is basically the fastest way to get a player to feed you the...
  18. Is any current top player better than prime Ma Long (2015-2017)?

IT is easy to forget that Harimoto is 20. I know that it might not make a difference to how you view things, but this is very easy to forget. Especially in a World where Ma Long got to his top level in success around the age of 27.
  19. Is any current top player better than prime Ma Long (2015-2017)?

So how to look at ML vs ZJK at Olympics in 2016 and WTTC in 2015? ML got past his nemesis who was over the hill?
  20. Is any current top player better than prime Ma Long (2015-2017)?

When you become stronger than your father, is it because he got older or you got older or somewhere in between? Who controls that timeline and narrative? That is why father time is undefeated. People just want to beat their opponents. I understand and accept the narrative as a way of showing...
