  1. How to defend

Thanks a lot guys for all your advice. I'm just back from training for 3 hours with some of Ulsters top players and really enjoyed it. I had Dr Neubauer Domination on the B/H and it felt great. I found it really easy to accelerate the racquet and keep the ball low consistently. Most of the...
  2. How to defend

I hear CEO BOGEYHUNTER is the expert on defence??
  3. How to defend

I am a Tennis coach and played for Ireland as a junior in Table Tennis 35 years ago. I recently played a hard bat tournament and discovered just by chance that I was really good at it, only defending though. I really enjoyed defending and have made a comeback in Table Tennis and have tried short...
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Any tips on chopping? I was an attacker but discovered I was really good at hard bat. I'm trying short pips but am discovering it has less effect than long, long just doesn't seem to suit my stroke tho. Maybe I should try an inverted defensive rubber? I want to still attack the F/H. Any advice...
  5. Short pimples game style

I feel like I have tried everything ha ha..I am deffo going to stick with Sps for a good while as I practiced today with a guy with a lot of knowledge on the game and we did a drill where he looped, I chopped and then came in and drove the ball on the 4th shot. He even showed me how to play a...
  6. Short pimples game style

I recently posted about changing my game style to attack/defence with inverted rubber. I went to my local club with this in mind but accidently came across Stiga Radical and tried it out on my B/H. I chopped mainly with it but when the ball was up It was easy enough to hit as well. I have read a...
  7. Game style

Yeah the F/H chop with inverted is natural for me, I think its because I'm a coach and I have fed tens of thousands of balls. The tackiness chop might just be the answer as maybe the Tenergy might just be too fast. The main thing is that I can still play B/H topspin. As you say, the technique is...
  8. Game style

Good to know that some successful players can defend with inverted rubber. I'm surprised she doesn't attack a little more though. I suppose you play a certain style and you stick to it. I'll have a look at the Hurricane 3 but I reckon max thickness Tenergy is the most likely to work for me...
  9. Game style

I have heard a lot about the short pips and I actually tried it but didn't like the fact that I couldn't create backspin like normal rubber. I really like the idea of chopping then coming in and hitting a topspin B/H winner. Are there any players who defend and attack with inverted rubber? I...
  10. Game style

What about playing with short pimples..is that an option? I defend really well in hard bat and quite enjoy it..I also chop quite well on the F/H side with normal rubber..
  11. Game style

That makes a lot of sense as most my two boys were Tennis players before Table Tennis and they are really good when away from the table. Thanks for your advice and I reckon I could be effective with this style with lots of practice. Thanks again!
  12. Game style

Pretty good. I played my lad earlier and messed about a bit with attack and defence and found the F/H chop easy with smooth rubber but not so easy with my B/H chop. What rubber would you recommend for this type of game? I didn't realise these guys played with normal rubber, I assumed short pips.
  13. Game style

I was a top Junior 35 years ago and am 48 now. I am really struggling to get my F/H topspin consistent due to my Tennis stroke (I am a Tennis coach) I am extremely good at hard bat defending and nearly qualified for Ally Pally in the Irish qualifier (lost semis) and actually quite enjoy...
  14. Changing style to avoid bad habits

I am a Tennis player as well and I'm very good at hard bat defending due to my Tennis skills. I fiddled about with short pips with some success but there were too many weaknesses and I ultimately didn't enjoy playing that way. I have been going demented with the F/H technique and even changed to...
  15. F/h topspin practice

Awesome multi ball video by the way. I have copied some of the drills with my son. thanks
  16. F/h topspin practice

Just finished practicing with my 11 year old boy who is currently ranked #3 in Ireland for his age. I am actually left handed and strangely my technique with my left hand feels perfect as I practiced a little due to an injury with my right hand. (I will send in a video soon)..The main issue I...
  17. F/h topspin practice

I've sent that in. I'm sure you will have fun with my poor technique
  18. F/h topspin practice

What do you think of Tennis like drive volley multi ball feeding? I am a Tennis coach and it is one of the best ways to improve technique in topspin ground strokes. I have never seen it done on any videos though!!
  19. F/h topspin practice
