Backhand Rubber for Viscaria

Hello. I swapped my blade to a brand new Viscaria ALC. My previous blade was Xiom Icecream AZXi and i used donic acuda s2 both side. Now i have a friend that used Viscaria ALC with Xiom C55 as fh. now im planning to put a c55 on my own blade, but i don't know what to put on my backhand. im assuming that Donic Acuda s2 wouldn't be my best pick for backhand because it's a different blade, so im finding for alternative backhand rubbers. I can flick, i can attack with backhand and so on. But i don't want to use Butterfly rubbers because they are pricey.

Any suggestions?

The reason you don't want the Acuda S2 on the Viscaria is because it is an outdated rubber that is too soft for modern offensive techniques with the plastic ball. The Donic J2 works really well for me on the BH and so does the Zyre 03 but Zyre is very expensive.

What if I told you what some people who think their rubber is too fast is misinterpretting the rubbers lack of control/predictability at higher ball impact speeds as being too fast and a harder rubber with a more linear and predictable response at those speed makes it all good again? Have none of you ever experienced going to a harder rubber with the plastic ball and finding your loops or blocks now seem to get back on the table more often and with more satisfaction? Are we not scientific minded gear experimenters or are we driven by outdated ideas and old wives tales? C'mon all you EJs, speak up!

OK, well here are two scenarios in which going harder can be safer.

One, when you're bottoming out the softer rubber making the ball behave unpredictably.
Switching to harder means less bottoming out and more predictable balls.

Two, when you are on the edge of engaging/not engaging the sponge of the softer rubber, making the ball behave unpredictably.
Switching to harder means you're using less sponge and get more predictable balls.

In both cases, the problem will return when you start applying more power, but they are symptoms of two different diseases.

If a rubber is unpredictable at high speeds, there's also the option of technique being uncontrolled at higher speeds. Those could be about wild, arm-driven FH's but also about too passive blocking. Both will make balls jump out with far less control than a short, well-directed stroke.

Well he should try Acuda first. He already has it. If it doeswn't work then can think about something else.

Not me. With Vega Europe I get ball back on table more often then with harder rubbers

woah i didn't realize that this conversation has been ongoing still. but anyways...

i tried the viscaria and i put both of my acuda s2. backhand, good. forehand, too slow for me. so y'all we're right. i changed my rubber to loki rxton 5, much easier to use for me and it gives me more speed than acuda. but it was a second hand rubber and now i thought im gonna use hard rubber for forehand starting now.

first thought i want to buy c57.5. still want to, but im eyeing on other medium hard - hard rubbers as an alternative. right now im looking if im gonna try the xuperman powerplay x.
