Just randomly watched this video and thought this might be the same in tabletennis aswell. I always thought the rounder the better.

Also some people rather play with 1x matchball entire trainingsession over some others who don't seem to care and play wirh different brand trainingballs even.

A football has only a fraction of the spin of a TT ball. A perfectly round ball with spin through still air is very very predictive, without spin not so much since the air is not perfectly homogeneous. On a football field you also have winds to account for. So yes in TT it is much better if the ball is as round as possible…

While I completely agree with you, since reading the opening post , I now really would love to try a "dimpled TT-ball.." 😂

Dimpled golf balls fly much further and have better aerodynamic properties than smooth golf balls due to the dimples' ability to reduce drag and increase lift. Dimples create a thin, turbulent boundary layer of air that clings to the ball's surface, reducing drag and allowing the ball to travel further. They also aid in lift generation by encouraging backspin, which in turn creates a lower pressure zone above the ball, allowing it to stay airborne longer.
