I suppose a blade could indirectly help if it is somehow conducive to the type of game you decide will help you to beat pips?
As in, if you decide speed and all out attack is the way to go there's a blade for that and if you decide that a control and placement game will help there's a blade for that too.
But I wouldn't be changing blades just to play pimples or anything like that.

Hi all, just wondering - are there any particular blades that are genuinely helpful against pimple rubbers?

I have seen a few blades advertised recently as being helpful against pimple players but I had previously assumed it is primarily about your own game and the types of shots you make?
I cannot conceive how a blade can be helpful. I do think some rubbers can be helpful.
Yes, that’s my view but I spotted a blade advertised as being useful against pimples and found it quite a claim.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I think it’s primarily down to practice, technique and rubber choice?

Well, blade practice and rubber choice is about mastering your own game first.
After that there are specific things to know and tactics to for playing V pimples.
There a a few threads in here about it for sure .

All these answers were talking about skills, which the OP did not consult with. I think Timo BOll zlc is a pretty good blade against chopper/long pips. It can easily loop backspin, and kill no spin.
fair comment but once one has got the skills one can do all that also with a $5 blade from china 😁

If it's against long pips the best rubbers are short pips & anti spin.
I disagree. I played short pips on my backhand side a while back and I played worse against pips than against inverted.

A lot about pip or anti is about using the opponent's spin against them. Well, long pips or anti players don't usually give you any spin.

Also using short pips is also about borrowing the force and when you play against anti or long pips, there are no forces to borrow.

I found it easier using short pips against inverted players.

So the best rubber against long pips is inverted rubber in the hands of players who know how to use it.

I approach this question as a LP player. What equipment do I fear when I play similar rated players at a tournament?? SP hitters are the worst! I don't care what blade you have. If you can hit with antispin or LP I also dread you, but really no one at my lower level can consistently hit with antispin or LP.
