Ordered dignics from prott many times all legit. But spoke with them last night, he doesn’t have many, just 50. And all out of stock already.
All zyre from prott gone already?

Murdered by the hype cannon.

I couldn't get 2.7mm from him, so at least there's more chance the packet will fit through my letterbox now with 2.5mm.

He'll restock soon I'm sure.

its the other way around
Zyre 03 is a "replica" of many other ESN rubbers that has thin topsheet, thick sponge
As someone who likes to do slow spinny topspins with the topsheet I am not sure if it would be too difficult to do with this rubber. I never struggeled with power so I don't need that

if someone asked to use Neo 3 blue sponge on backhand, you’d probably say that’s a bad idea
No, I would not. It is all a matter of strengths, preferences, playing style, blade/rubber combination, etc. Currently, what I play on my backhand is 57° hard (quite similar to H3N).

I read before people are getting 2.5 for backhand so if it’s a case where the 2.7 would be hard to activate then I’d immediately go for the 2.5 then struggle with 2.7 on the backhand.
You should not read too much. What for one is easy to activate, for the other it is hard to activate - and the other way round.

As this is a forum to discuss zyre 03 I wanted to see if maybe someone tried the 2.7 on backhand and could tell me if the 2.5 could be a better option but I leave it that people haven’t really tried it enough yet.
It brings you zero, exactly 0.0 additional insight for you personally what works/doesn't work for someone else - even more if you don't know that person at all.

rather than calling someone stupid.
You should have read my response more carefully! I called your question stupid - not you as an individual. You understand the difference?

A disappointing response on this sort of forum
Nope. You have to acknowledge the fact that your question absolutely no one on the planet can answer and that your question should never been raised.

I barely know any other sport that is so individual to the material like table tennis. Once you understood this, you would probably never ask those questions or you would be way, way more specific in formulating them.

I think on any forum any member can raise any question they’d like. Simple or detailed, you don’t have the right to say what is and what isnt allowed. And any member can respond any way they want, that is their right. But overall very disappointed with this dialogue and I don’t see anything positive continuing this conversation with you.

That's fine, no problem. I can live with that. But hopefully you recognized that other members didn't take your question for serious, either, and made fun of you.

dont wanna derail the thread because i dont know if this is true for the new butterfly rubber, but with hurricane, a thicker sponge, even just .05 is significantly harder to hit through and engage the sponge. i much prefer the thinner sponge over the thicker, even if the thicker sponge has a higher top end for spin and speed.
I am puzzled by this, as it seems counterintuitive to me. I would reckon it is easier to use sponge when there's more of it, but seems like the opposite might be true?

If so, how does that work? Is a sponge not properly engaged until you get to a certain compression ratio? So do thicker sponges require more force to compress to the same effect?

Simply, it's not true. It's not the way it works.

Noticed both Miwa and Diaz went back to Dignics A good reminder you don't always need the latest and greatest.
I'm under the impression there are quite some adopters that only use it under the right circumstances.

... I'm not sure if those are environmental circumstances or financial ones like sponsor agreements.

"The shorter geometry of the inner pimples allows it to have the maximum sponge thickness of 2.3 mm."

This comes straight from the marketing department for Stiga DNA Platinum.

Without discount, in North America, DNA Platinum costs $75 while Zyre 03 costs $120.

So not really worth it...
Maybe is worth it, for 4+ rubbers (so the shipping cost is lower per rubber) and if prott can mark the parcel as 20$ dollars value (so the Tax is about 5-7Euro). BUT the difference is very small and the risk high to pay a lot more in Customs (Tax). It is better to contact them (skype/email: prott (at) live.cn ) and see what the options are.

I ain't paying 65€+ for a piece of rubber. I just asked the price out of curiosity, because some members in the past have mentioned about crazy bargains for Dignics, about 45 to 50€ a sheet. At this price, maybe I would consider trying it.
