Really love Kim for her unique playstyle — calm but explosive when needed.

But… can she really go all the way and beat Miwa tomorrow?? That match is gonna be fire!

I just hope the mixed doubles loss with Ri Jong Sik won’t affect her mentally. That was such a shock…

Let’s go Kim!!
What is her bh rubber? LP? or Anti?

A wonderful day indeed! Miwa is the goddess of pimple vanquisher. Begone pimple! Go back to where you cometh!
Although I am happy that Miwa won, I and many others want to see more and more of Kim Kum Yong in WTT tournaments. You're not going to get that high level of artistry and cunning anywhere else. More KKY, more Hashimoto, more Sato, more Kyoka Idesawa. Those amateurs that can't handle pips can go back to where they cometh from :).

Have your mind unrufled, my dear.

My personal motto sounds like that
--- Begone treated pimples, if any.

Artistry? Maybe I can't recognize it for what it is, but I saw someone relying on, and being handicapped by, their pips. Those choppy blocks don't need pips, her backhand had little danger other than a rather predictable tempo change (always slowing down) and some adjustments on what spin it gives.

Her FH was great though. But you have to, if you sacrifice your BH for pips.

Artistry is in the eye of the beholder, but every once in a while, I like to see the change of pace from the standard fast paced BH-BH exchanges. Miwa dealt with it much better this time than at the Asian Championships.

Not this time !!
I still want to know why there's been a DSQ patch on the women's doubles between the other PRK womens and Wang Manyu/Kuai Man.

But hey, it's not as if all those Russia, PRK and China countries were known for respecting any international rule right ?

Kim played exceptionally well in the first six games, with incredible stability and consistency, which forced Miwa to work hard for every single point. The match was physically demanding for Miwa, and the moment her focus or intensity dipped, Kim took over control.

Playing against Kim requires total concentration, lose focus for even a second, and the point is gone. If you don't attack her block chops aggressively (like Miwa did), Kim will punish passive play with her BH or FH attacks. I would say she wins around 80% of those kinds of points.

In the final set, Miwa took a few quick points and Kim's mental game dropped.
It's a shame we don’t get to see her play against top Chinese players, I think she would be more threatening to them than Miwa.

There was no swapping the racket before the match began so yea this is so strange. I hope we hear an answer from ITTF but so far have heard nothing from them about the two incidents against WCQ.

They (either or both) probably chose to skip the pre-match test at racket control and opted for the post-match test and failed it afterward and got disqualified as a result.

Rackets not presented before the match will always be tested after the match, with the
risk of loss of the match completed if it fails any of the tests
