CARBONIZED PLYWOOD.
An innovative material is now growing in popularity for making table tennis blades. In its essence, it is a thermally modified wood known as "carbonized plywood, the thing looks much like a black charcoal.
Carbonized (inorganic) wood is far different from natural wooden materials.
I got one, it plays like the famous Black Knight 2000-pound cannon to break through a castle walls.

How does it feel when you play it

If you burn wood and take its ashes and make carbon out of it, would it still count wood or carbon? (I know I’m silly 😆 )

Is carbonized wood toxic?The tars and smoke produced from carbonization, although not directly poisonous, may have long-term damaging effects on the respiratory system.

What will they think of next simply to re-invent the wheel 😁

I think Yinhe had a similar structure long ago, in the Yinhe E-3VB and the Yinhe E-1VB, and also the Yinhe U-1VB. However on these blades the vacuum-baked wood (which was dark brown) was not the top layer, instead Limba and Koto was used. The E-3VB also used glass fiber. I have the E-3VB and the U-1VB and they play nicely but there is not a spectacular difference to other non-vacuuum-baked blades.
Also since these blades I don't think any new ones showed up, the later blades are all conventional carbon containing blades like the Pro-01. My favorite blade currently is the Purple Dragon 437 (7 ply Limba/5x Ayous/Limba) which has a really good feeling to play with and works well with short pips.
