Anyone tried this Pongori Compact Indoor Table Tennis Table TTT 930 ITTF - 25mm? Be grateful for feedback on how it plays. Currently £599. One reviewer compares it favourably to a Tibhar table.

I was hoping to get a decent used Butterfly or similar TT brand table this Summer but nothing available near me and arranging collection etc would add to costs of something further away.

Thanks

If you're in the UK, i'd look into Sponeta-branded tables. They're the leading actual manufacturer of TT tables, adopted by so many premium TT brands worldwide.

Simple construction, standard Maschinenelemente, easy to maintain/fix. And when you're beyond the warranty period, they can and will help directly, swiftly, at low cost.

Pongori is a just a brand (= just a name) by the Decathlon France Company (DFC Ltd.). Decathlon does NOT manufacture their tables, they buy them from the actual manufacturers. Decathlon can easily discontinue their chosen models, or, discontinue support for them, since they're just a trading company (trade company). You're better off owning a manufacturer-branded product like Sponeta.

Btw my indoor table is something cheap and seemingly brandless, got it 2nd hand from classifieds. Seems like sheet aluminum "board". I have the monies to afford a brandnew Sponeta or DONIC etc but after having owned and used a table for so long, i couldn't care less srsly.

Let's be pragmatic and honest to ourselves. The limiting factor at/for home solo training is (maybe not free time but) self-motivation .. which is a mathematical function of our health, fitness, and energy. If it's guaranteed that you will be enjoying the new table for countless sessions,

Thanks for the response Plunder. I appreciate what you're saying about time to play, hoping my young son might do some extra practice at home but highly unlikely. I think he needs a club environment to stay focused. Sadly had to give away my 1980s (?) Butterfly Europa which was purchased for £20, built like a tank and fine to practice on. Reminded me of my school days. Mainly looking for a cheap used 22 or 25mm table in the Cambridge UK area but don't have a van to transport. Regards.

I just tried it in decathlon at Canada Water where they have a table tennis club that is open non stop. I have to say it’s a great table. The surface is a little on the smooth side so it plays a bit quicker than the powder coated butterfly competition tables I’m used to but it could be the thickness and perceived speed from the stiffer surface… and that it had been well used… I can confirm it plays very very nicely either way. The 25mm thick surface makes much less sound which makes doing drills more relaxing. It does make me wonder though how good is a 30mm thick table now 😬. Donic sell one called the Waldner premium at a decent price although the 25mm pongoori table at £600 is much better value, especially compared to a 15 or 20mm
