Currently using tmxi pro with battle ii blue sponge + Vega X. I’m tempting to try hl5 available on tt11 : https://www.tabletennis11.com/other_eng/dhs-hurricane-long-5-golden

How does it compare to commercial long 5? Is it even worth the extra cost since commercial one is sitting at $170 whereas Golden hl5 is $210. What really is the difference? The national/provincial ones are beyond my budget so they’re not an option and I’d prefer new blades meaning I wouldn’t buy second hand blades(nth wrong with buying used blades it’s just my preference)
If the difference is minimal I would rather skip it but say golden hl5 having better quality materials being used I think the price difference is very much justified. Wdy think guys?

I use TMXi Pro and had the chance to compare it with w968 national (2016) a few weeks ago.

Both blades are very similar, same composition. There are minor differences. W968 is slightly faster, especially on FH. The ball trajectory was lower and deeper, and more powerful in general. H3N BS was used on both blades.
On the other hand, TMXi Pro was better on BH, somehow more crisp and way better feedback. Of course, these are my personal impressions.

Mind you, my comparison was with w968, not HL5. HL5 will most likely not be an upgrade to TMXi PRO, since HL5 is a 'worse' version of w968.

Makes sense. I don’t even know if I should buy a backup another tmxi pro or just try something different. I’m in Ej mood right now really. I also wanna get a butterfly blade since I never own one and it’s BTY haha

I bought this exact one off table tennis 11 the one you linked https://www.tabletennis11.com/other_eng/dhs-hurricane-long-5-golden

My definition of quality is when there’s any cosmetic issues when seeing the racket for the first time after opening, how good the finish is (carbon stitching popping out the sides, splinters anywhere, wood used has any faults). I have a national official golden slam w968 from prott too and I would rate the quality finish of both to a high standard. The difference is they’re two different blades but the quality is the same. Literally no faults could be pointed out at all. I’ve read the quality of the regular HL5 isn’t great so i believe you’re just paying for slightly better quality material and finish on the golden.

I think DHS has really improved its QC recently. I have a W968 and some HL5s from a few years ago and the quality was pretty meh, but the recent Q968 I got was top notch. Everything was very smooth, all the edges, the blade face, all look like they are much better sanded than their previous offerings.

How has been your experience playing the Golden Long 5. can you post some feedback in terms of playing characteristics like speed, spin potential, hardness compared to your W968, whether it holds the ball deeply while top spinning. How different is your Golden Long 5 compared to your W968 based on the above characteristics?

I don’t really use the golden long 5 as the player edition w968 does everything the same but better. It’s more controlled, more spin, more powerful, more dwell, I’ve never been so comfortable in a rally vs using dignics or tenergy rubbers. It has a really unique property of a feeling of holding the ball, I’m not too concerned with the spin of the opponent, dead balls are easier. should be noted I used hurricane rubbers with both golden long 5 and w968 so the qualities you want an answer for need to consider what rubber was used in combination with blade. My player edition w968 is noticeably brighter vs the limba on my national w968. The national w968 is softer vs the hardness of the player edition. The golden long 5 is harder similar to my player edition, it’s also not as dark top ply vs the standard long 5s from what I remember. I’d say purely down to budget the golden long 5 is still a great blade that I would recommend to any intermediate+ player. It’s got plenty power, spin, control.

Thanks, am just trying to understand what you are saying here. Correct me and help edit the message I have given below.

1. Speed: / Power W968 player edition>W968 National>Golden Long 5
2. Hardness: W968 player edition >= Golden Long 5 > W968 National
3. Softness W968 National > Golden Long 5 > W968 player edition
4. Control: W968 player edition > W968 National > Golden Long 5
5. Dwell/Hold: W968 player edition > W968 National > Golden Long 5
