Yes, it is probably Herd Behavior that makes certain rubbers a popular fétiche with common populace.

Herd behavior is often a useful tool in marketing and, if used properly, can lead to increases in sales and changes to the structure of society.[28] Whilst it has been shown that financial incentives cause action in large numbers of people, herd mentality often wins out in a case of "Keeping up with the Joneses".

As for me, l think myself a sort of a lonely cowboy, --speedy gun, stony face. My veriest beloved rubber is a china tensor at usd 18, 44 hardness degree, unboosted. The most preferred choice of lonely cowboy.

Utterly worthless list

Ridiculous self selection bias in the sample

It's a survey of people with a profile on revspin and inputted their info

How current is the data? How many people posted their info years ago and have never updated it?

IgorGPT chatbot strikes again, will this topic will be added to the usual rotation of booster detector, LP friction tester, Ab Roller boosting?

I think it's more to do with cost. An amateur does not know what rubbers and blades are out there, and therefore buys the popular choices to err on the side of caution. If you give everyone every rubber of all thicknesses and blades for free, you will get diversity for sure.
To add to this, I’m sure many do buy blindly. However, if you’re able to test other people’s equipment in person and take a liking to it, you’re more likely to buy it.
