Hi Friends,

I have been hearing this statement from lot of pro players that you need to tight the core while playing. They gave many other advises. I am unable to implement them but at least understand them at the first place.

When someone says tight the core, like when I used to do squats or deadlift with barbells, I used to hold the breadth for the full course of time. Now from Table tennis perspective I am feeling a little clueless how to do that? any tips or suggestion.

Referring

Thanks,
Coolchap

Great video. You don't have to (and shouldn't) hold your breath to maintain core tension. There are many exercises that can help with this. You can start with static poses that require core tension, like planks or leg lifts, with controlled breathing. Then integrate core tension with movement, with things like plank to side-plank transitions. Balance boards are also great for this. Then easy tt warm up drills while maintaining core tension with relaxed shoulders and arms, and controlled breathing (e.g, breathe in for three strokes, then out for three strokes).

I have the same question. How hard do I need to keep my core tight? Does my body need to be 100% rigid, so I only turn my hip? Do I do this all the time or only when I hit the ball? I think the idea behind this is to throw your body forward instead of upward when you generate power. But I don't understand the details of execution.
