This happens. Don't worry about it. Take something like a pliers or, as BB said, a vice to press the wood back to the original thickness. Put some wood glue on the edge over the ding. And don't worry about it. Water Based glue for TT rubbers will not do anything for that ding.

The edge is not where you hit the ball; you hit the ball in the center of the blade face. Your blade will get many more dings if you are really playing and using it. Think of them as battle scars. The more of them your blade has, the more character it will have and the more you will feel it has gone into battle with you, and for you.

I personally play without edge tape. It is a personal choice. But the stuff that TensorBH is calling edge padding, if you hit the table nice and solidly with that stuff on the edge, it won't do anything anyway. It is your choice. But it will take a lot of those dings for you to do any actual damage to your blade to the point where you need a new one.

@Der_Echte: do you remember Abe Gold's blade. :) hahahahaha. And that kid could play even though it looked like he had chewed off half the bottom edge of his blade. :)
Battle scars 😅 it's a nice metaphor. I'll still play with the edge tapes, gives the blade some protection and nice aesthetic.
Sure I'll add some glue and put some weight.

It doesn't matter what you use. All you want to do is get the wood back to the original thickness. You could do that by pressing the side that is bulging against a table. Once the top ply is flat, then the glue on the edge to make it so the wood does not splinter in the future.

The real reason I like no edge tape is that the edge tape adds more weight to the head than most people realize. But, I can also do that because I like the aesthetic of seeing the wood and I know that the tape won't protect anything anyway. When I hit the edge of my blade on something, nothing is going to stop the wood from getting dinged. And, dings are just part of playing. So they don't bother me.

But, you liking the tape and using it, I am good with that. It is your equipment. You are the one who gets to decide.

I hit my racket on the table during my practice. I'm using Fan Zhendong ALC. There is a small dent in the ply as seen in the picture. Do I need to do something to fix this or can I leave it like this? Kindly throw me some suggestions guys. This blade is just 6 months old and I have done this already 😣View attachment 29307

Judging from the damage, it's still pretty easy to fix

Take off your rubbers, boil some water, and using small piece of paper towel/cotton grab it using tweezer or anything that can assist you to do so, drip some boiling hot water, or simply slap the cotton/paper towel. Repeat the process until most dent are 'lifted'. For the raised head surface, simply press it back to flat/equal

Or the more complicated way to do it, clamp/press the head surface first, then do the same thing

For the crack at the core, there's nothing to do. But at least the dent is 'lifted'
