Interested in playing long pips.

Any good long pips to try out?

I'm interested in playing long pips, i played with my coach's old senso racket with Bluegrip C2 and Donic Spike X2, and found it was really fun to play with. I've only played LPs 1 time, and that was a quick 10 minute session with the same racket. I produced quite some trouble for my opponents, but was ultimately beaten due to my inexperience with it. I was wondering, what are some good pips to try out?

I intend to use the Stiga Cybershape AC or Donic Defplay Senso V3 as my blade, since both are slow enough. I'm eyeing the Victas P4v curl since i read in a magazine that it's used specifically for chopping. Tibhar Grass Dtecs was also a recommendation according to a few sources. Any other options that are recommended? I'm using it for fun, and also to better understand LPs, especially chopping ones.

DTecS and P4 are on opposite sides of the long pip spectrum, P4 is very slow and grippy and DTecS is fast and rather slick. I think you should go straight for the most popular chopping long pip, Curl P1, it balances reversal with grip very well. There are lots of other long pips that do other things well, like attacking or passive blocking at the table, but for chopping I don't think there is a rubber that has a better balance of characteristics more suited to chopping than P1

If you are just goofing around and don't want to spend alot of money trying out LP, then a Chinese LP like Dawei 388D1 0.6mm chops just fine. The 388 D2 is supposed to be better at push blocking, so closer to Dtecs.

The WRM TT channel on youtube has many reviews of LP chopping rubbers

I use p1v ox after a side by side comparison test with p4v ox on the same blade I found I was making more backspin chopping and pushing/chop blocking over the table with p1vthe pips are longer than p4v and makes a difference.
There is even some spin reversal when passive blocking with p1v and more dampening when blocking.opponents had more trouble against the p1v.
The p1v and p4v have more control than chinese pips and detecs

Hi there - I am looking for a new set of long pips. I have played with Hellfire X OX for a little year and since I switched to long pips it was a good fit for how I like to play. Now I am looking to expand my way of playing, I want to be able to also actively hit the ball and put pressure on my opponent. I can do that a little with Hellfire X OX but I find it very hard to do in real matches. Don't get me wrong, I win lots of matches, I am just trying to expand what I can do :)

Because of this I have been thinking about adding a little sponge (around 0,5 mm).
Should I choose Hellfire X? Go with Dawei 388D-1? Or try my luck with Grass D.TecS? (all with a little sponge like 0,5 mm).

I like not to stand to close to the table and I am forcing my view in how I play to be to disrupt with my backhand (long pips) and wait for my change to win points with counter attack with my forehand (and I want to be able to also do that with my long pips).

BOGEYMAN
Those pips addicted would not be socially welcomed, as being told somewhat a bogeyman. Nice pictorial allegory, indeed.🤩

I like Ilius B 1.3mm for allround play. Very easy in attack, push and chop. But unsignificant reversal in block. In general, adding sponge reduces spin reversal but improves attacking capabilities. The thicker the sponge, the closer to inverted.

What do you mean? What ban? Tell us more
Frictionless pips are banned. There is a minimal friction value that every pips rubber needs to cover in order to be approved for use in tournament. It was a huge hit for pips players when the rule was approved. Especially for pips blockers. Currently, you can buy such sinful pips with the keywords "after UV treatment" or "curred". Surch in google can tell you more, but my advice is play with normal pips.

A do a little LP play and it is difficult with no sponge LP against top players....they just hit through it. I use the cloud and fog 3 from DHS. I have sponge on it but for general fun play I think it would be better with no sponge. From what I have experienced and learnt from LP and Anti Spin players around me is that your alternative rubber is very important. Just the last few weeks I have been training in Germany and players like to use soft, high spin FH rubbers with the LP or Anti Spin. They like to spin the ball up and then hit it with LP/Anti to force errors. The soft allows them to generate easy spin on slow balls. Has been interesting for me to see.

OP only said he wants to try long pips. He never said he wants frictionless pips or antispin.

Is only information because OP didn't said it's for classical defense far from the table or blocker chop/blocker close to the table, so not all people plays classical defense like you, for example I play close to the table...

There are several reasons to use soft sponge:

-Playing close to the table it's difficult to control a speed blade for the BH anti, so you finally use a Def or max. All blade all wood.

-Also playing close to the table you can't to do big swings required with hard rubbers, so needs soft sponge to generate easy spin and better if are bouncing to increase speed.

-Twidling the blade open more chances to win so a soft & bouncing inverted rubbers is perfect for BH.

If he play close to table doesn't mean he wants to use frictionless banned LP

I don't use frictionless LP. Not everybody playing close to the table uses frictionless LP. Also my advice it's only for information about the new trend to use anti in place of LP everyone can or can't take...

Remember not all people using LP are frictionless if plays tournaments.

I tried antis frictionless but I like more LP because have more gears but each person is different so OP can like frictionless & I offer him the possibility to try frictionless anti!!

It's not kind your comments coming from a LP player to other LP player, but Happy New Year.
