I have a nittaku miyabi, and per revspin (I know it is not the most accurate) it is about the same stiffness and lot softer than a lot of entry level Chinese defensive blade, just wondering if it is a viable choice, if not I will just buy a 980 to try. Thanks

Not viable. Too fast and bouncy. I didn't like the 980, IMO best budget defensive blade:
