Is it worth to switch to defence style?

I was always playing as an offensive player, but recently a thought arouse in my mind if switching to modern defender is worth, firstly I would save some money on my blade and I have a good chop rubber in cheap price from my club, secondly I have some predispositions to chopping, therefore I am not sure if it is worth it can I get some opinions and advices?:)

Depends on your meaning of "worth".

Is it about fun, and do you enjoy playing defensive? Then yes.

Is it about finances? Then I don't think you'll see any change.

If anything, playing modern defense is a more delicate style than pure offensive. You have more strokes to work on, more "wrong shots" to select during play, and then there's twiddling, limitations of rubber etc etc.

This can be incredibly rewarding if you want that challenge, but incredibly frustrating if you get overwhelmed by it.

My two cents: if you want to switch, commit. Commit fully and wholly, accept your results will suffer and coming back up will take time. Accept that it might be hard getting the right training if you wish to play pimples. Invest in robot time for that exact reason if you want to improve the basics quickly.

If you enjoy it, then go ahead. My local coach switched to chopper late in life being a 2500 player. Not sure if he became better or worse after the switch

What you mean by worth? If you like this style then switch.

I do like but I am concerned I am not going to like it for a long term and if it is not some sort of fantasy does it differ much would it be hard for me what are the pros and cons

I switched recently to my own style of modern defense - inspired by Muramatsu and Joo Saehyuk.
Although I am still adapting and mostly attacking currently, I do not want to go back to full offensive style.

I will not become a pro or realistically make any money by playing, so I try to enjoy the sport and constantly improve.

Hey, I am also adapting currently to modern defense. Does someone one has really good YouTube videos for techniques and strategies? I would love to find some. I currently surfing through the whole Internet and saw a lot. But maybe I overlooked something. Would be really helpful if you can suggest me your " favorites

It won't magically make you better. You'll be worse for a couple months or years. If you don't mind that and like to chop and play a slow and controlled game, go for it.

Does where you usually play have enough space behind the tables?

If it doesn't, will be very frustrating trying top play defense with back up to wall.
