My wonder is whether he handed himself into criminal prosecutors. The most recent update said he was banned from competition for 6 months so wouldn't really be able to play anything official in Japan, is that his punishment? Or will he be awaiting some kind of official case also?

I watched a program in Japan about “online casino” . I learnt it is illegal (= crime) to go to these sites . I shouldn’t do sports betting !

Also what I didn’t understand is that apparently many gamblers ended with huge debts I don’t even understand who is lending them (that much) money and how those loans can be legal while gambling isn’t

South Korea also has gambling being illegal as well (I think only lottery and horse racing is legal) but if they “South Korean citizens” were to gamble overseas e.g casinos it will be illegal even if the country they go to is legal.

Yes but it would make sense to make a law making those loans illegal as well
of course
but they are always ways to dodge it.
any 2 individual can get into a contract with each other,
loan sharks been around for hundreds of years - longer than table tennis been around

So Koki Niwa is going to play in US MLTT League ? I'm hearing the Las Vegas team wants him badly
Lol, We're ripping on Koji Niwa pretty hard, but I'm excited a legend like that is coming to America to play. Mltt is def getting stronger and there's nothing I'd like more than to see the sport grow in the US.

No team in Las Vegas, but maybe we can give a host wildcard to Koki Niwa for the US Smash held in Las Vegas!

He's banned from playing in Japan, but I believe he can play overseas according to the posted articles.
He is banned by JTTA
which means he is also not allowed to play overseas, including in WTT events where JTTA enters the player.

I do not know if MLTT requires national federation clearance letters.
of all the countries I have placed players, all of them need federation approval
I would assume MLTT requires too,
