Surprised to read that you find the blade more controllable than other outer carbon blades. It's one of those on my wishlist but unlike ALC blades that everyone has and I can try, few people use this blade in comparison and I have trouble justifying the price tag to simply test it out.

Making me want to bite the bullet and give it a go though, as I do have tendency to want to play more compact, but have always been under the impression the MJ ZLC is significantly harder to control than its ALC counterparts.

Bear in mind it's my personal opinion. Anyone could feel very different about it.

To me It's a different type of control.

I find that JMZLC has a better control in terms of lateral placement (middle, line...etc) but ALC has better control in length (it's easier to play short or long).

I find the sweet spot of JMZLC to be larger, meaning if I don't hit the ball perfectly where I wanted, I don't feel it that much. With my FZD ALC if I do that I pay the error immediately.

But JMZLC has more natural rebound, so it's much easier to overshoot

With the JMZLC In short game and serves you will definitely have less control if you are used to ALC.

Really the best way I can put it is that:

JMZLC has much less gears, lowest still has some decent speed, highest is not extremely high. It's all condensed.
When you get used to it you are never really surprise by the rebound.

ALC has much more gears, lowest is slow, highest is really powerful. So technically you are supposed to have more "possible" control.

But If you misread the trajectory of the ball, and hit with more or less power than you wanted, your shot can be very different from what you expected, which is something I almost never experience with JMZLC.

And the feeling is really different, the vibration, the sound...etc
