Mystery sponges

Hi!
I bought DHS no. 15 500ml glue bottle and it came with a box of sponges. What are these black sponges intended for? They are harder an denser than the normal glue application white ones. Any idea?

they´re for scrape off the old glue on the blade/rubber

The black sponge is for scraping off excess glue from the edge of the blade after application.
