Hi everyone,

I’m writing this to warn the community about a bad batch of Dignics 09C (Black / 2.1) and the unacceptable response from Butterfly’s distribution.

I have been using the D09C for years and know exactly how it plays. I bought a new sheet in June, and upon opening it, the topsheet had zero tackiness. It felt completely dead/slippery compared to any previous sheet.

The details of the defective unit are:

  • Serial: B074447BAFU2
  • Batch Code: 06070-278-0-022
  • Barcode: 4 906901 203334
The issue: I contacted the official distributor (Germany) immediately. Despite sending evidence, they simply replied "there is no problem" and refused a replacement or refund. For a rubber that costs this much, receiving a defective product and being ignored is unacceptable.

If you are buying a D09C soon, check the batch number. If you are from Butterfly reading this: ignoring loyal customers is not the way to go.

The rubber is sticky not tacky nor grippy.
Thanks for your remark.

Unfortunately, in my case, the rubber is not sticky at all.

regarding the vocabulary, I used the term 'tacky' simply because that is the official wording used by Butterfly to describe the characteristics of the Dignics 09C (please see the attached screenshot).

D 09c, whats the differnec between sticky and tacky? But i had the same issue and went to D05 because of it. I tried a "new" D09c in Dezember and it was back to being sticky/tacky. I can lift the ball from the table 5-10cm with the rubber.

Thanks for confirming you had the same issue! It proves that defective batches are a real problem and I am not alone.

Regarding the terms: people often debate 'sticky' (holds the ball against gravity) vs 'tacky' (lifts it momentarily). But honestly, in my case, the rubber was neither. It had zero stickiness/tackiness, it felt completely smooth, just like a regular Dignics 05.

The fact that you got a 'good' sheet in December just confirms that buying a D09C has become a lottery. For this price, consistency should be 100%, we shouldn't have to hope we get a 'lucky' batch.

Mine bought 24/7/2025 and still sticky using the protective sticky foil included with the rubber, attached invoice and serial number of rubber.
Voici une proposition de réponse en anglais qui reprend tes points : remerciement, constat du défaut chez toi, et déception sur le rapport prix/service.

Proposition de réponse :

"Thank you for the feedback and for sharing your details. I am glad to hear your sheet is performing well.
Unfortunately, in my case, the rubber was defective right out of the box.
But the biggest issue for me is the after-sales support. The response I received from Butterfly Germany is simply not on par with the premium price of this product. When you pay this much for a rubber, you expect a service level that matches the quality, not a complete refusal to help
