Just use WD40 (a few drops and spread with a soft toilet paper) or lamp oil, also a few drops. Use it on the sponge and/or on the rubber. Always start thin.;
Works great for reviving old rubbers that lost their spin.

agreed, I made the same experience using CRC -Marine.
However, while these liquids will clean and refresh the stickiness of the rubber, they do not actually " BOOST" the rubbers.

When you use WD40 or lamp oil (kerosene) on the sponge (just one or 2 thin layers!), these liquids do boost the rubber!
